gone dark

Yeah, sorry about that. At first I swore I would not blog until I had dealt with pressing real-life issues. Those were dealt with by last Wednesday so I really have no excuse for not blogging about the last two games in a timely manner. Needless to say, not having to write anything for a whole week was like a dreamy dream. Fuck the English language.

So, I guess I should get to it.

Mooseheads vs Montreal Jr (Moose lose 4-1)
Well, the first period was exciting. When the team allowed 4 goals in the second period I gave up on life. Sitting through the third period just felt like torture because of the sense of complete helplessness. It must be how my cat feels when I force her to cuddle me. I never want to experience that again. Can you do that for me my sweet, darling mooselets?

Cookies to Grant for the only goal in what felt like the longest stretch of goallessness in the history of hockey.  Cookies are for eating, not for hiding in your underware.

Mooseheads vs Screagles (Moose lose 2-0)
Despite the fact that the team were shutout, this game was decidedly less painful. Games against the Screagles are always delightful and scrappy...even when there is no actual scrapping. Cookies are to be shared between Bety and Bernard for coming out in this game with full force, and new goalie Delmas for decreasing my sense of hopelessness with his >0.9% sv%. There is a chance for you yet Delmas, but remember: cookies are for eating, not for hiding down your pants.

PS J.Bernard. We are soooo back on. I was going to give you a choice about it but then I realized we never talked...so how could you let me know? You can't!!! I have made an executive decision for us. If I catch you sexy dancing for Alex MacDonald I will rip his mullet weave out...unless, of course, I can have you both.

Mooseheads vs Wildcats (Moose lose 3-0)
In a homage to the loss of Baby LBD I did not pay attention to this game. How dare LBD leave me to go to Quebec? The only benefit of this move was our acquisition of Delmas...Oh, and the fact that LBD gets to work with Roy. I just don't think he was taking my feeling into consideration. ...and to think that I cooed for his wearing of white belts and shoes (yes, gentle readers, he goes all Frenchy style on us too).

Twenty-five shots on goal and yet, nothing. I blame Nicola Riopel. He probably shouldn't be in this league.

Cookies go to me because I have a tendency to drown my sorrows in food.

Mooseheads vs Sagueneens (Moose win 5-1)
Ah now that is more like it. Randall's one timer was a thing of pure beauty. Who knew that anybody on this team could 'one-time' it. Sometimes, as a group of intelligent, deep thinking and gentle boys, my moosies spend far too much time coddling the puck with their stick and contemplating their next move. Pucks are for shooting, not for coddling... and definitely not for putting down your pants in an attempt to look like you have a bigger schlong.

Pucks were getting all up in the Sags' net. The Mooseheads had 5 goals (Randell, Bernard, Gelinas, MacDonald and Andrews) in 40 shots and boys were driving the net to get those rebounds.  Amazeballs. Why can't they do this every night?

It's as easy as that!

With the Sags came a return to winning and the second coming of Alexis Piette (the first, of course, being his visit with the Lewiston Maineiacs before being traded to the Sags at X-mas). At some point Alexis played an excellent game of keep-away, scooting around the entire perimeter of our zone with the puck, and at that moment I desperately wanted him back. It's not just for the eyebrows.

Cookies go to MacDonald and Bernard. MacDonald had his first goal as a Moosehead, which is always something to be celebrated with abundant overeating and a few beer. Of course I am terribly selfish and I demand more goals. Immediately if possible. Yes Jessyko, cookies are for storing in your pants but only if I can...

Mooseheads vs Voltigeurs (Moose win 2-1)
Bitches. The Volts stole Delmas' shutout with just over 3 minutes left in the game. Peter Delmas stopped 35 shots on his way to a win over the league powerhouse Drummondville Voltigeurs (33-13-0-2). It was brilliant.

Abeltshauser (big slapshot from the point) and Amyot both got their goals on the powerplay. Knotek, Bernard, Gelinas and Andrews had assists.

Jake Allen was in nets for the Volts, playing what was his 3rd game in  a row. Why they felt the need to play him against one of the worst teams in the league is beyond me? I was tempted to throw Allan off his game by holding up a big sign that just said "SILVER" on it, but I had no bristle board and I had not thought of this in advance of the game. It turns out that it was not necessary to be so mean and the Mooseheads could defeat the Volts without my help.

To say that the final three minutes was stressful is an understatement. The Moose had lost their 2 goal cushion and spent the last minute playing 6-4 after taking a penalty for too many men on the ice. The defensive effort was staggering and I was desperately hoping one of the boys could thoroughly crush the Volts' spirits with an empty net goal but everyone knows that empty net goals are really not part of the Mooseheads' skill set.

Dear Peter Delmas,
Congratulations on your QMJHL defensive player of the week award. In two games you recorded two wins and had a 1.0 GAA and a 0.964 sv%.  I would lick cookie crumbs off your taint for that. Please, don't tell your mother I offered... and for God's* sake don't tell my mother either. What do you mean, you don't read my blog? You should get on that boy!

Coming soon?

I have been considering designing and making player t-shirts available forever ago. I actually designed a bunch of shirts and even put them on Zazzle but never made them available to the public. Once again I have been considering it and have designed this logo in support of Konrad Abeltshauser.

Eventually I might get around to putting it on cotton and then making it available to the general public. There has got to be a way to support your favorite players that does not involve spending $140 on a customized jersey or breaking out a sharpie (teenage girl style).

Thoughts?

In the springtime of his voodoo

The NHL has released it's preliminary rankings for the 2010 draft and some Moose are on there.

Mooseheads import defenceman Konrad Abeltshauser is listed as #13 amongst QMJHL skaters. I hope he is excited but not so excited that he jumps around. That might aggravate his knee injury.

While Mathieu Corbeil may be sad that he lost  the CHL goaltender of the week award to Calvin Pickard of the Seattle Thunderbirds, he can be reassured in his recent success by being ranked the # 2 goalie in the QMJHL. Yes, he's ahead of Maxime Clermont. That is sooooo cookie worthy.

Corbeil had previously also been listed as a player to watch in the QMJHL.

Hockey's future has also released the ISS top 30 with a list of rising and falling NHL hopefuls. Corbeil and Hannay are both RISING.

Mathieu Corbeil-Theriault, G -- Halifax Mooseheads
Height: 6.05.7 Weight: 186
Corbeil has had four outstanding games in a row for the last-place Halifax Mooseheads, three have been wins where he was named the first star of the game. Seems to be turning corner; positioning is better, battling, better rebound control, and flashing a quick glove.

Sawyer Hannay, RD -- Halifax Mooseheads
Height: 6.04 Weight: 190
Tough and respected. Word is already circulating that there is a new heavyweight champ in the QMJHL after young Hannay went toe-to-toe with Ashton Bernard in Cape Breton. Not afraid of anybody. Team-first guy. Teammates love him. Any NHL team selecting after the fifth or sixth round looking for character will find it in aces with this kid.

Congrats boys

Who are you?

The Mooseheads (last place) just defeated the Moncton Wildcats (7th overall) by a score of 2-1. Sure they couldn't get a puck in that empty net for the last minute of play thus leaving me hanging from a perpetual cliff of excitement for the final minute of play but who cares - they won.

three

I am also pretty sure that their penises all got about 3 inches longer. That is like 69 extra inches of dick. Absolutely amazing. No one can resist that.

Dimitruk, Grant and Corbeil (36 MF saves) get stars. Corbeil and Gelinas share cookies.

If this were America's next top Model, and I was Tyra Banks, I would make one of Garrett or Gerrad change their name. I keep interchanging them. It does not help that both of their surnames can double for first names (Clarke and Grant). It is just not appropriate. Maybe I will start calling Gerrad by the name Gerry...just like his mommy does. Will that clear up the confusion?

Updates (post edit)
There is a mystical connection between my bladder and the Mooseheads:
When I go to the bathroom they score. I don't know why. I am not planning on spending all of my game time in the bathroom, but it remains a possibility should the team start to play horribly.

The Key is defence:
...or at least 4 defencemen. Which was pretty much all the Mooseheads had last night. Abeltshauser hobbled off the ice after being knocked into his own net and ended up with a knee injury. Instead of kissing his knee better the ref decided to give him a 2 minute minor for hooking or holding. Moncton got their first and only goal as a result.

Down 1 Special K for the rest of the game.

Then early in the second Metcalfe gets a 15 minute penalty. This leaves 5 defencemen (7 were playing). At the end of the second Clarke got another 15 minutes. At some point Amyot, Dimitruk, Hannay and Gillard were the only defencemen. Despite this the team held on and did not allow Moncton to get back at our net. Hence why Dimitruk gets stars.

But why did Gelinas get cookies? He had only one shot on net, no hits and was overall may not have been a guy you noticed. But I noticed him. He was boppin' and weavin' and stickhandling and skating with much effort - always trying to get that puck in front of the net. He kept popping into my visual field saying "look at me" ...and I kept noticing. Besides, its my blog and if I want to give cookies to Gelinas just because I think he looks like a squirrel* then I can do so.

But he has to share with Corbeil and I hope nobody minds that I gave some raw cookie dough to Louis Domingue. I may have also let him clean the bowl...and the spoon...and the beaters...and sneak some chocolate chips from the package. What?

...because really - both goalies faced over 30 shots and the score was 2-1. Both were solid...as was the empty net. Damn that net really knows how to keep Randell off the score board. It's like it moves its posts or something. No goals on 3 empty net shots.

wars

10 minutes because refs lick ass:
Both Metcalfe and Clarke got scrappy. Both Metcalfe and Clarke got 5 for fighting and an additional 10 minutes ...because refs were punishing them for the balloon boy incident? Like dude, I don't know! Apparently Metcalfe was given an extra 10 minutes for a hand motion to pump up the crowd- a hand motion which was so subtle that I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't wearing my glasses. Admittedly if I wasn't wearing my glasses I probably wouldn't have even know that was Metcalfe and may have confused the Mooseheads for the Minnesota Wild...so yeah, I'm blind. I also drink my beer with a straw. You got a problem with that?

This is bullshit. I enjoy showboating. Everybody enjoys showboating. Even when a player from the other team showboats I like it. The bigger the better. It makes them stand out and reminds me who I should hate (eg. ASShton Bernard using his imaginary bow and arrows). QMJHL hockey needs more showboating, not less.

gute Nachricht

Mooseheads defenceman Konrad Abeltshauser has been invited to play for his home country of Germany in the World Junior hockey tournament this year.

A trip to the world juniors means that Konrad will be away for most of December but I am OK with that because I have other unusually tall defencemen to keep me warm (right Hannay). A trip to the world Juniors will increase his exposure and a good performance combined with worldwide exposure will increase his odds of being drafted by an NHL team. Drafty is good.

Special K

According to an interview with Konrad on Sports and Moore Konrad was "freaked out. He was soooo excited he jumped around and turned up the music. I was happy that my billets weren't home because they would think I'm crazy"

Konrad is being too cute. He needs to stop cougarbaiting because it could get dangerous (for him).

I also expect Tomas Knotek to receive an invite from the Czech team, so there will be no 'Special K' (choose your favorite flavour - Konrad or Knotek) for Moosefans in December. I can deal.

lynx

ugh. No, stop coming here by searching puckbunny. I think I have had 5 hits for puckbunny in the past 2 days. That is just cootietastic.

It is amazing the things people can google search which will bring them to this blog.

1) "Alex hockey player of Mooses in Halifax" - half of the Mooseheads are named Alex so this search makes sense...kinda.
2) "Joel Grondin has a baby?" - he had better not or I will chop his wang off.
3) "girls tits game" - sounds like fun
4) "when men don't want to talk" - I assume that all my Moose are mutes and that we have never talked because they can not talk. Well, all except Alex MacDonald.
5) "tits slapped hard" - owwwww
6) "Film hot" - I get a lot of searches for this and I suspect that it is not because of people looking for this interview with Ron Hextall. Ohhh la la... now that is film hot*.
7) "cookie pender" - OMG he comes in cookie form!

So The Moose play the Montreal Jr on Thursday at the Metro Centre and I have just been sitting around waiting for news (and for someone to tell me that they actually want to go to the game with me).

This is what I learned:
1) Moose tweets tell me that Abeltshauser is feeling good in his wrist area and may even be feeling good enough to play Thursday vs Montreal. He heals faster than the speed of Mats Sundin's ejaculate...or superman's ejaculate...or Mats Sundin's eye...I forget the joke. Anyway, the point is that he heals quickly.

2) Alex Lemieux is the Mooseheads' Scholastic player for the month of September. mmmmm brains.

3) The Mooseheads are cold again. Booo. I will warm myself be sidling up to the super hot teeny, tiny Drew Owsley of the Tri-city Americans - my adopted WHL goalie boyfriend. To think that I loved him when he was a press-box dwelling back-up to the back-up.*sigh*

According to the Sportsnet Hot/not list:
"The losses continued to mount for the rebuilding Mooseheads, who have yet to win since Oct. 3 in a 6-1 rout over Val-d'Or. Halifax has lost their last nine consecutive games, acquiring just one point in a shootout loss over that stretch in a loss to Rouyn-Noranda on Oct. 9. Halifax has a dismal 1-15-0-1 record this season."

Yes, they used the word dismal.

4) Everyone else is doing it (See Toronto Maple Leafs), why can't we?

Monday updates: @!&*!!!* FUCK!

1) Mooseheads defenceman Konrad Abeltshauser broke his hand in yesterday's game against the Moncton wildcats when he collided with (?)/ was cross checked by (?) a Wildcat's player. According to Matthew Wuest he will be out at least four weeks. AT LEAST. Coach Cam Russell gave Wuest the details
"He broke his wrist. He'll be out a minimum of four weeks. He has a cast on now. It's a clean break in his wrist. It's broken right through. It wasn't displaced, that's the good news, and we don't think it will require surgery, but it will be a minimum of four weeks."

2) Former Mooseheads defenceman Richard Greer is no longer with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles (known around these parts as the Screagles- it may also be some sort of infectious disease). Richie now appears to be with the Summerside Western Capitals where he is going incognito as a forward.

Speaking of Western Caps - former Moosehead Chad Earle looks delightfully evil and has 16 points (8G, 8A) in 12 games this season with the Caps.

3) Willy Palov's latest article states that:
It’s also believed the Mooseheads will put in a claim on 19-year-old defenceman Paul Dimitruk when he is put on waivers by Moncton sometime this week. Russell said he hadn’t seen Dimitruk’s name on the waiver wire yet so he didn’t have much to say about it. But it’s safe to assume the Mooseheads would be interested.
The Moose are already carrying 8 defenceman (Brunet, Amyot, Metcalfe, MacDonald, Clarke, Gillard, Abeltshauser & Hannay) so it is kinda hard to know where a guy like Dimitruk fits in. I have fearful thoughts about certain boys being cut and these thoughts do not make me very happy.

uggggg poll!
Get over there with your mouse already! How hard is it to find a little button and press it, maybe caress it gently with your cursor. Stupid boys!

Elsewhere:
Wildcats forward Randy Cameron has won the QMJHL offensive player of the week while Saguenéens Goaltender Christopher Gibson was the defensive player of the week. Cameron should thank the Mooseheads for helping him get that award.

Home Sweet (?) Home

The Mooseheads took on the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the Halifax Metro Centre last night for the home opener. The game began after a lengthy ceremony to honour long time broadcaster Pat Connolly. I was drunk and pumped up before I even hit the MC. Oh the faces, the smells, that energy in the air, the annoying voices of 'fatty' and 'peg legs' who sit behind me. It felt like home.

Before the game even began, boyfriend and I were trying to decide which defenceman 'Fatty' and 'Peg Legs' would hate this year. We were no longer going to be subjected to the phrase "God Damn Moooonast", or "Geeeeeze Boooona". We guessed the target of their vitriol would be now be Alex MacDonald.

At some point the puck went into MacDonald's skates and he fumbled to get it out and then safely made the pass out of our zone. Sure enough, as the puck was tied up in his skates we heard "way to goooooo MacDoooonald". I then had to tolerate repeated mumblings about my precious new defenceman boyfriend throughout the night. If the losing does not make this a long-ass year, then having to listen to the irrational bitching of the boys who sit behind me will.

Goalies:
Both Mathieu Corbeil and Joel Grondin had shiny new painted helmets. The team brass are finally being nice to goalies. It only took Mathieu 1 year to get his bucket painted. There are no cookies on it.

New goalies always seem to have to wait awhile to get a fancy helmet so I was very shocked that Grondin was already all dressed up in his head region.

All the boys now wear green pants but goalies just look like they are wearing green wind pants over their regular black goalie pants. The extra layer of wind pants did not stop Mathieu from having delightfully kicky legs. Those kicky legs will come in useful for things other than the pre-period warm-up goalie mating dance. Yes, they even stopped a couple of pucks.

helmet

I did not mean to be stalking my new goalie boyfriend, Joel Grondin, with my camera - he just magically appeared on it. I was just trying to read Corbeil's helmet with my Camera's super zoom function when suddenly a fight broke out while Clarke was playing ghosties under his jersey *boo*; so I snapped a few fight pictures...and there was Grondin getting all up in my lens. He was basically throwing himself at my camera. This is going to be a sweet, sweet affair.

Funness:
As per usual, Jessyko Bernard was the first intermission interviewee. Shannon Slaughter knows what the people like (FYI, The people like Jessyko). He informed us that his favorite colour is green (same as Yeti, apparently I have a type), that he prefers country music to rock and then he sang Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire. He did a damn good job.

I am just going to forget that he prefers country music though - because that shit is normally an atrocity to my ears.

The game:
I thought the beginning was going to be dull because of the pre-game ceremonies but in fact the boys came out like gangbusters, dominating the game in the first 15 minutes of play and not letting the Titan get a single shot on net. Everybody was hitting and nasty and full of Pirate tendencies. They be pilfering yer puck arrrg.

I decided in the first period that Alex Lemieux should get the cookies because he was a little wrecking ball to start the game. Then he got injured and was all a little absent after that...as were the Mooseheads.

Garrett Clarke had the first and only Mooseheads goal by using a nice little drag and lift move to get the puck up and over Champion. He also had a fight (see picture above) and was making fancy moves in the third which got him pretty damn close to getting a second goal. Alex Lemieux should share his cookies with Clarke.

The PP was pitiful. The Mooseheads had a tonne of shots (38 to be precise) on net but most were from weird places. When I was paying attention to the PP in the first period it seemed like the whole thing relied on passing the puck to back to Abeltshauser at the blue line for a slapshot, and not about trying to get it near the net. 1/7 pfffft! ...and even then it was a defenceman (Clarke) who got the goal with an assist from another defenceman (Abeltshauser).

Where were the forwards? Yuri Cheremetiev was held to one shot on net. ONE. Charles Bety was trying, Gabe Desjardins was trying, Tomas Knotek was trying (not fond of that one handed shot on net though - lazy). So the Moose had 38 shots but only 11 were dangerous. They have to make more of their shots.

As Wuest pointed out in his recent blog post - no more 'shoot birds'. Please. This is also one of my pet peeves. All this team does is shoot...and rather uselessly from funny angles. As a bonus there is rarely anybody in front of the net to get the rebound. If some player does manage to find his way to the front of the net it is usually a guy with dead hands.

The game got dull in the second period. Even my pre-game beer buzz was gone. We were all basically just going through the motions. Sure it picked up again in the third but by then it was too late. The Moose were down 3-1 with about 5 minutes left in the game and just never recovered.

So yeah. The Mooseheads lost. As you can tell from my new little 'Eastern Division Status' tracker on the right, the Mooseheads are pointless - the only team in the Eastern Division without a win, or even an OT loss. Sadness!

The whole thing could have been much better for the Moose had it not been for the excellent goaltending of Nicholas Champion. I sooo want to pull a Tonya Harding on his hands.

But gosh you gotta love 'em:
So by now you are probably asking yourself "if this team can't win why should I continue to follow them? Why should I give them my heart?"

You do this because they are good, sweet boys who give back to the community (and because some of them are cute).

Face of the franchise, Gabriel Desjardins, has started a charity whereby $21.00 (his number is 21) will be donated to the Salvation Army for every point he gets this year. Now all he has to do is start getting points. Defenceman Pascal Amyot is also being a sweetie by donating his season tickets to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters association, and has agreed to meet with his special guests after every game.

Yes, everyone is so sweet. Well, everyone but Chuckie Schembri - but Sydney will do that to a boy. It is like the 7th circle of hell. It has to be. At the edge of the 6th circle there is a disgusting stench which arises from the circle below - totally Sydney. Have you walked by the tar ponds in the summer?

This delightful kitten will make you forget last night's loss

Locked in the trunk of a car

The Mooseheads had their first two games of the season this past weekend and I was neither willing nor energetic enough to report on either of them at the time. I was on a weekend mini-vacation and if the Moose can't give me that then they are selfish, selfish boys.

Moose vs Screagles:
I did spend Friday evening cuddled up with my boys (and my other real, more fleshy boyfriend) to watch the Moose take on the Screagles on Eastlink television. It was a spirited game with the Moose coming back from a severe deficit to pull up to CB's bumper. The score was 5-4 going into the final minute of the game. Then Michael Stinziani ruined their night by getting a hat trick when he directed the puck into an empty Mooseheads net. He did this from inside the CB blue line. Final score 6-4.

My concerns:
Too many breakaways for Cape Breton: I am getting tired of this. This is three years in a row where I feel like I am guaranteed to see the opposition have at least 5 breakaway shots on net every game.

Too many goals allowed: Losing is fine. I am OK with losing, but can we keep the goals against under 5. Yeah...that would be great.

The dark green numbers are almost impossible to see on the dark red background of the "away Jersey", and I am not even a colour blind male. If it was that difficult to see on TV I do not want to know how hard it will be to see on a streaming internet feed.

Not that I am about to start paying telus to watch these now. Yep, streaming internet feeds are no longer free. Thus, I shall no longer be writing semi-informative blogs about away games because I refuse to pay an extra $100+ dollars for the shitty and inconsistent feed.

Mon Cher:
1) Jessyko Bernard for getting that goal in the final minutes of the game to put the pressure on Cape Breton.

2) Cookies go to Charles Bety for being everywhere. Bety had a game high 9 shots on net (tied with CB's Stinziani), an assist and won 50% of his faceoffs.

3) The Mooseheads PP was better than in the preseason - 3/6 and their PK was better - allowing only 1/6.

4) The 'never say die' attitude displayed by the boys.

les nouvelles:

Moose vs Rocket:

The Mooseheads lost 7-4 as the result of a collapse in the end of the third period. What was all that off-season training for? Our love sessions require stamina. I will have no more of this shenanigans. I want tantric hockey.

Problems:
Penalties. Too many of 'em to deal with PEI's successful power play (yes it feels weird to type that). Linden Bahm spent 4 minutes in the sin bin alone. Did Gabe O'Connor tell him that they keep porno mags in there? Well they don't!!! Besides, the quality of porno magazines has declined vastly in recent years. Do you really want to see Heidi Montag get naked? She is no Sasha Grey.

Hitting was down. Why don't my team like to hit the Rocket? You can break their faces. I don't mind.

Meine Liebe:
Give Vanille Kipferls to Konrad Abeltshauser for a goal and an assist. His point production so far is making me feel funny in my nether regions and he is only 17 years old.

My love:
I went to pick up my season tickets and came face to face with three boys I like and am familiar with. This is a challenge on a team with 13 new players. Yes, Bernard, Bety and MacDonald were handling my section. *gasp Bernard*.

Bernard pawned me off on Alex MacDonald. Somehow I lived. I can't stay mad at Jessyko Bernard but what I can do is make Alex MacDonald an upper tier defenceman boyfriend. I am spiteful like that. Alex has his charms as well as a lot of hair for pulling.

Alex MacDonald challenges a PEI player in his new RBK EDGE je... on Twitpic

If Alex really wants to give me a "special gift" (I suspect that my Mooseheads mug is not really that special since everybody received one) what he can do is line up the team in the following order: coaches, goalies, defence, defensive forwards, scoring forwards, and lastly, injured/ missing players*. He can then run past the group with his hand at face level to produce an elongated slap motion. Defensive, my ass! A slap is what they get for allowing 13 goals in the past two games.

I will just have to figure out how to deal with this 3 Alex situation. We have an Alexandre Brunet, an Alex MacDonald and an Alex Lemieux. I can't even call them Thing 1 and Thing 2. Oh I know I could call them Brunet, MacDonald and Lemieux but that would be far too easy.

*Injured/missing players are not being defensively responsible.

Kisses to Abeltshauser...

...right on the jaw, or the pink cheeks or on the teeth in the mouth. Our little big defenceman may have a broken face. According to Wuest, teeny-tiny agitator Shrembi was about to put a hit on some bitch Eagle when he accidentally hit Abeltshauser in the 'head region' with his helmet. Abeltshauser has a concussion fo sho and may be all messed up in his kissing zone.

Abeltshauser was leading our rookie defencemen in the preseason with 2 points in 3 games. Boo on our unfortunate luck and Boo on Shrembi's short-ass self.

The Mooseheads lost 5-3. The Eagles KILLED - getting 4 out of 5 goals on the power play. Please remember that is CB WITHOUT their top 7 players. Oi. The Mooseheads power play was far less impressive - 1/6 with a goal by Cheremetiev, assisted by Bernard and Andrews.

The other two Moose goals were by Randell, and Stoddard.

It seemed good to start. I was all full of hope when the Moose were defeating the Eagles 3-0 only 11 minutes into the first. It was all downhill from there.

Mathieu Corbeil was in nets for the Moose and allowed 5 goals in 28 shots (this may not be correct - Q stats coming from the forum are shifty). Wuest's twitter reports it as 5 goals on 30 shots. It is OK. I am getting really used to seeing 5 goals against. Can anybody say lowered expectations?

Read Wuest's full report here. It is informative.
