Au revoir

Trades are the hardest. The QMJHL trade deadline day has come and gone and a few of the cuter Mooseheads have been moved as a result. Spencer Metcalfe is off to join Alex MacDonald on the Moncton Wildcats. What will I do with that fancy Metcalfe "hitman" shirt I designed for Zazzle. Guillaume Pelletier was not so lucky and he will be moving to the dreaded PEI Rocket *shudder*.

The Mooseheads have in return acquired 2 more native HRM boys (*sigh*, why does it always gotta be like that?). Peter Delmas was acquired from the Quebec Remparts for a 6th round pick. He will likely be taking over Joël Grodin's place in nets* (another hottie gone? - I shall miss his fluffy hair).  Forward Bradley MacDonald was acquired from PEI in the Pelletier trade. If I see him rocking Alex MacDonald's old #6 jersey I will be angry because 1) sacrilege, 2) that's a defencemen's number 3) dear Mooseheads stop being so fucking cheap and stop recycling old jerseys (Numbers). 

Speaking of fluffy hair: Mathieu Corbeil cut your hair! It is bordering on le cheveux dangereux.  If you don't have the money to get a hair cut because you spend all your 'Desjardins' on cloths from D2, then I will cut it for you. Free of charge.



Triple dumped by a goalie, a defenceman and a forward, a phone call from the tax people, having to see Mathieu's hair like that, and a computer virus - all in just two days.  It's gotta be all up from here.

A Guillaume Pelletier story from the Chronicle Herald.

The Halifax Mooseheads forward has hardly played any hockey in the past year thanks to a painful knee injury he suffered while playing for the Rimouski Oceanic last season. Pelletier broke his kneecap just before Christmas and missed the remainder of the season, with the exception of one game in Halifax at the end of the schedule.

...As if that wasn’t bad enough, Pelletier found out just nine days later he had been traded. He was part of the deal that sent forward Logan MacMillan to Rimouski, which deprived Pelletier of the opportunity to play in the Memorial Cup as part of the host team.

"I was a little bit disappointed about that but I was really interested in coming here," Pelletier said. "It’s a nice organization and I told (former Mooseheads general manager) Marcel (Patenaude) it would be something good for my future.

"I like it here. The organization, the billets and everything around the team is great. It’s really good here."

I hate 3 in 3.

I get tired just thinking about how these poor boys have to suffer on the road, shuffling between hotels and playing hockey against some brutally successful teams in their own barns. The Moose are on the road in Quebec for a three in three: taking on Gatineau (tonight), Shawinigan (Saturday) and finally Victoriaville (Sunday) before heading home on the long bus trip.

Three games in three days. All on the road. All against powerful teams at least 30 points ahead of them. Yep, the Halifax Mooseheads are in a pickle heading to Quebec, teetering on the brink of missing the QMJHL playoffs.
“Six,” said Mooseheads head coach Cam Russell hopefully, when asked how many points he can reasonably expect.

Wow. Cam is funny. Why don't I have a crush on him? I like funny guys.

Honestly though, while I have a tonne of blind faith in my team I am not completely delusional. I do believe that they are the kind of team that can pull off an upset...I just don't think that they believe that they are the kind of team that can pull off an upset. This is despite the fact that they do seem to think they can defeat the other cellar dwellers without really trying. This mentality results in frequent incidents of epic fail.

Pascal Amyot is slightly more reasonable:

“They’re great teams and we have to make it hard on them and make sure that no matter what the score is, they’re gonna remember playing the Mooseheads,” said blue-liner Pascal Amyot. “That’s the message we want to leave.”

If you actually read this news story or the Q-files in the link to the right you will notice that Guillaume Pelletier is expected to be out for the full season while recuperating from his broken knee. That is no shock. He is invited to my house to watch all future road games with me and to give me french lessons so that I can converse better with french goaltenders.


Jersey Auction:
The Halifax Mooseheads will be paying tribute to the Nova Scotia Voyageurs on February 27^th by wearing Voyageurs replica jerseys in the home game against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. They will then be auctioning off the game worn jerseys on the team website. All proceeds from the auction will go to the IWK Children’s Hospital for purchase of a SMART Syringe Pump for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

OK. I am too excited about a game worn jersey auction. Which do I bid on: Goalies, puppy, Bona, Bahm? Whomever's is going cheapest? Can I get a boy to go with that jersey?
