Shame didn't work
As a member of the Mooseheads Borg-like collective of fans I must admit that I am feeling the pain. The Mooseheads promotions people would call me the 7th player. I do have a street hockey stick – I call it the ovipositor (that has dual meaning) - and am beginning to believe that if you put me on the roster I may have some positive effect on the outcome of the game. I can chop at shins, I can fall unpurposefully in front of the opposition (I fall a lot) and if all else fails I can stand at the blue line and flash my tits at the goalie while Randell drives the net.
Tonight the Mooseheads were in Baie Comeau to take on the Drakkar in what has been dubbed the “battle for the basement”. Sounds Epic.
Before the game description begins there are a few things to note:
1) The Moose are going with 7 D today including wee behbeh ginge Jamie Bishop.
Sitting out are defencemen MacDonald, Gillard and Abeltshauser and forwards Brown, Costello, Stoddard and Pelletier.
2) As of last night the Moose have the 5th best PP in the league with 26.3 %, at least according to the “special teams" stat page. The team page says they are at 25.something %. Whatever. The QMJHL tells lies, but both values are still are pretty good.
3) Corbeil is back in nets after a game off in
First Period:
The game started out with turnovers by Amyot and Dimitruk. The boys are NOT being careful about turnovers in dangerous places. mmmm turnovers (kinda hungry for sweets)
Gerrad Grant gets a PP goal on the third rebound when the net was practically empty as Dunnett appeared to be diving around trying to stop pucks. It is great that the team is taking advantage of these opportunities… practically empty nets. Sometimes they shoot and miss them (YES, YOU DO).
Shortly thereafter (1.5 minutes to be exact) Charles Bety made a bad pass onto the sick of a Drakkar player who was standing around in the moose zone. Two Drakkar drove to the Mooseheads net. Bourque gets the goal for the Drakkar to tie the game up at 1-1. Disappointing.
Bety made up for it seconds later by stealing the puck on the Drakkar PP and making a run for their net.
Intermission:
Costello reminds me of the thing I think whenever I hear intermission interviews – these rural Maritime kids have some fucked up accents. They make the foreigners sound so refined.
Second period:
The Drakkar got a goal early in the 2nd. Thus breaking my heart. Drakkar up 2-1 on a high shot by Bourque that cleared Corbeil’s glove.
The Moose had a PP which turned into a 5 on 3…then back into a 5 on 4 and then – d’oh - still no goal. This was immediately followed by another PP with no goal. The PP is usually pretty good but the boys are kinda stinking it up today. They had almost 5 minutes of consecutive PP time and failed to score. In total there were 6 PP’s in the second period but no goals. Clarke appears to be the machine behind our power play.
On the 6th PP opportunity of the period the Drakkar almost got a goal but Corbeil made a huge save. Then Clarke got stupid and took a revenge penalty to end the power play
Knotek then took a cross checking penalty for his second penalty of the game. This is very unlike Tomas Knotek…he is like our superman – so seemingly moral (well at least he looks angelic), except probably when it comes to underage drinking. Europeans won’t stand for our stupid rules.
Intermission:
awwwww Guillaume Pelletier gets interviewed. Gui’s keys to winning in the third – score on the PP. Damn straight!
Third period:
Drakkar start on a 5-4 which quickly turns into a 5-3 when Travis Randell, one of the Mooseheads best penalty killers, gets tossed into the box. Then they score on the 5-4. The Drakkar are up 3-1 with 3 goals on 20 shots.
So Metcalfe decides to fight Richer just to add some zing to the game. It didn’t work.
I haven’t heard Bishop’s’ name in a while so I guess the behbeh is not getting so many minutes.
Dimitruk gets a hooking penalty, a double minor, his 2nd (or does that count as 2nd and 3rd) penalty of the game. Dudes – stay the fuck out of the box. To punish me for using curse words Hannay elbows some Drakkar dink. Drakkar on the PP, their 8th of the game.
I sat around like a bum waiting for another PP opportunity and the Moose finally get it with less than 3 minutes left in the game. It quickly turns into a 5-3 when Cheremetiev took a hook from Bourque. Now the Mooseheads get a 5-3 for 1min 40 sec. What will they do?
…nothing.
With seconds left they pulled Corbeil and still nothing happened.
Positives:
Moose dominated the faceoffs winning 47 of 80. Only Randell was in the faceoffs loss category.
Big shooters include Knotek, Clarke and Dimitruk
Ummmmmmmm, I got nothing.
Bonus evil thoughts:
Tomas Knotek’s point streak comes to an end. Gerrad Grant’s remains in tact.
What, not enough energy left to hit? Only 11 hits by the Moose. That doesn’t look like the actions of a team that is going to make your life a living hell (unless you are a Mosseheads fan)
I bet the team's PP stats just went wayyyyyy down.
Corbeil stopped 21 of 24 shots by Baie Comeau.
The Drakkar now have 9 points and the Moose are still stuck at 3. The Mooseheads record now stands at 1-13-0-1.
Yes, Mr. Lester Brown, lots of Dutch people have been visiting the blog trying to find out more about you. I would tell them more about you if you would actually get a chance to play
Cookies for Who? I shall consider all arguments for or against, but I am leaning towards Clarke even though I don't like that he took 2 minor penalties.
Dear Moose Brass,
You can sit Andrews out and give him a break now. Just because he was the first round pick does not mean he gets to play every game. Especially when he is 14 games into the season with only 2 assists - having gotten only 1 point in the game against

Starting a relationship off on the wrong foot
When I saw this article in the Metro I thought we were better, we can make this work, you and I. Sure, you hit me (or cross checked Snow... whatever, semantics), but it felt like a kiss - you can't control yourself, you are just a passionate guy, right?
I was so smitten when you told me your intentions: “I hope it will be better for me, I want to be a leader here. I want to help Halifax and I hope I’ll get a lot of points.”
It had left me doodling 'Q-girl loves Jan' all over my binders and sighing deep heavy sighs. It was love Stransky, love. I know it has only been a week, but when you are young 'love' happens fast. I was ready to have your small, blonde, blue eyed babies. You could take those babies and use them as targeted projectiles on the ice; use them to hit your enemies from behind and then let those babies take the FOUR GAME SUSPENSION.
A four game suspension is no way to start a relationship. If you need me I will be crying in the girls washroom.

Mo' prospect reports - now featuring ex-boyfriends
From the LA kings Prospect Report:
Jonathan Bernier --
Bernier, the Kings' No. 1 pick (No. 11) in the 2006 Entry Draft, was impressive enough in training camp to earn the starting job for the season-opening game in London -- and was the No. 2 star in the Kings' 4-1 win over Anaheim. But he struggled after that and quickly was sent back to juniors to avoid destroying his confidence behind the Kings' porous defense. He was 1-3-0 with a 4.03 goals-against average with the Kings, then went 18-12-3 with Lewiston of the QMJHL and 1-1-1 with the Kings' AHL farm team in Manchester. At age 20, the Kings are hoping he's ready. "We don't want to rush him, but we have high expectations for Jonathan," (Mother F'n sexy mustachioed ex-goalie) Hextall said. "He's got the skills to be an elite goaltender. He's a very athletic goaltender with good quickness, and he's very willing to learn."Dear Jon, for the love of the hockey gods - put on a mask. You wouldn't want to hurt your pretty, pretty. What will Connie over at the Kings Blog think if you come to her all puck faced?
From the Florida Panthers Prospect report:
Mike Frolik -- Frolik has been compared to Steve Larmer, the longtime NHL veteran who starred for the Chicago Blackhawks. The native of Kladno in the Czech Republic played his first season of North American hockey with the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2006-07, finishing fourth among rookies with 73 points (31 goals, 42 assists). He then represented the Czech Republic in the 2007 World Junior Championships, registering four goals and two assists in six games. Injuries slowed his progress this past season with Rimouski, but he still managed 65 points, including 41 assists, in 44 games.

In an attempt to be better behaved (and less lazy) I have gone back and edited a few posts for which I had been naughty and ripped whole newspaper articles. I know that all y'all West coast and TO folks are bums like me and will likely not click the link to read stories in their entirety about kids you know nothing about. However, if I demand it then it must be done. How else will you learn? Once again it is a case of 'push button, get treat'.
edit- We will start today's lesson on pushing buttons with this story on Saint John Sea Dog forward and native Haligonian Steven Anthony which was written by Nathan White for the Telegraph Journal. Anthony was a rookie with the SeaDogs in 2007-2008. He was invited to participate in the Canadian under 18 tryouts but did not make the cut for the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament.
A Mooseheads story would be nice for a change *cough, Halifax newspapers, cough*.

Dec 30th 7:00pm
Jan 4th 4:00 pm
Feb 26th 7:00pm
Dear Travis,
People like you a lot, and I am one of those people. Did I mention how happy I was that you were going the AUS route? I hated the idea of giving you up ever so much. I think I must still mention you in every second blog post even if the post has nothing to do with you. I am elated (is that the word I am looking for?) that we will continue to have dates next season. I will thoroughly enjoy it even if all you are doing is sitting on the bench. My ovaries are already primed for October 24th.
So Fully, what will I wear? I have a pretty good idea idea what you will be wearing. Red, white and black is soooo sexy on guys. Oh my! Red,white and black -I think you are trying to make this difficult for me, what with the way you are testing my willpower and restraint. For that you deserve a spanking.
But the issue at hand is my wardrobe. Do I wear the titty dress, garters, and the 4 inch heel fuck-me boots? Do I bring the soft ropes? Jeans and a sweater will probably suffice and are the most logical choice for a cold hockey arena. I can still bring the soft ropes!
Truth be told, I am a smart sensible girl who likes the hockey more for the game than the boys (believe it or not). It is just that sometimes.....well.....some boys have that extra special something, that je ne sais quoi, that lure - the kavorka, and I just can't help myself. It is not my fault that I was born with ovaries and that you were born to throw your body all over the crease and wiggle in a funny way that makes my ovaries get all excited.
Oh, there it is! I thought of your cross-crease wiggle and my ovaries 'sploded. That led to me thinking about your strong chin *bite*, your pretty blue eyes, your neck with its line of freckles *lick*, your soft looking lips *mmm*, your jawline *nibble*, your long pretty fingers *oh my*, and your most likely delectable 6'1", slim, well-toned goalie body *sighs*. Is it true, what they say about Scotsmen?
If you will excuse me for a second I have something that I gotta do. It will only take me 10 minutes...maybe 20. Here, enjoy this picture of yourself looking hawt. No wait, I may need that!!!

God Damn!!! This is not healthy. Poor boy - I am sorry that my eyes and ovaries have decided to target you and that I feel the need to violate you with my words, among other things. The centromedial and lateral nuclei of my amygdala must have gotten rewired last season. The low guttural animal noises (it's like a purr/growl combo) start to emanate from my throat the very second I read your name. It is a new reflexive pathway: eyes ---> amygdala ---> straddling response + purr + drool.
Why d'ya have'ta go and make me feel like this? If you don't want this reaction from me you should just be a conservative butterfly goaltender who never plays the puck, and you most definitely should not play like this or this or this. Do you continue to do this to me 'cuz urrr naughty? Yeah, I thought as much *spank*!

Welcome back to Earth
WE. HAVE. MORE. CHICKEN. BONE.
I have wished, and wished, and even wished on a chicken bone for this win. It was a big welcome back to earth indeed. Mooseheads defeat the Acadie-Bathurt Titan 6-2.

Yeti/Yetty
My 'fear the Yeti' shirt is in the mail. I want to hug you and kiss you and run away with you to your abominable snow palace. Don't worry P-O, we will just be getting drunk and playing cards.
Whitey
Un-a-fucking-ssisted. Un-fucking-believable. You get a whole box of puppy treats.
.....and you shaved? If so, then here are your human treats as well.
I thought, wha? Paired with Knotek and Cheremetiev? Really? Well...this is going nowhere!!! This is sabotage!!! But apparently it did not matter who you were paired with because - un-a-fucking-ssisted!!! You can join Yeti/Yetty and I at his snow palace for drinks. In the middle of the second I escaped from my shitty seats in 31 O, and settled into section 26. Thank you for waiting until I moved to score that goal. Seeing it in close up made my day. All the girls agree- it was a very shiny goal.
Marchand
There is no thumbs-up emoticon and emoticons are dumb anyway. Sometimes (everytime) when I get shitty seats, I blame you for my getting shitty seats, and if I am not practically licking the glass I consider my seat a shitty seat. Since you have gotten here the Metro Centre has been a much busier place. I figure that for all of my suffering you owe me Carey Price's phone number. Pay up and I will finally start handing out the props you deserve. Until then...
Fine, you did indeed deserve your first star. I have glued some macaronis and sparkles on to it to make it look fancier. Three points in the form of two goals, one assist.... hmmmm.... needs more sparkles.
I sometimes think that if I had to have a short team Canada player on my hometown team, it could be Legein (because he makes me laugh...but he is OHL), or Giroux (because I have already built him his little squirrel house - also covered in sparkles). I guess I just take hometown boys for granted. Thank you for playing like you are supposed to play. Here are your long overdue kisses.
Louis-XVI & BouchardHit, hit, hit. Kill, kill, kill. That goal was the icing on the cake, and the cake was shaped like a slaughtered Titan.
Just in case you do not know what a slaughtered Titan looks like: here is Svoboda pretending to be slaughtered.
More props later

Things are mostly as expected
In the Telus Division, the Quebec Remparts faced the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. The game started with both back-up goalies in nets: Jonathan Roy for Quebec and Mathieu Leclair for Baie-Comeau. However, some weird reversal of fortune had both teams benching their back-ups - Leclair at 20:00 after allowing 2/6, followed shortly thereafter by Roy at 23:22 upon letting in 3/16. Daddy Roy must 'fear the Cousineau', and so he decided to bring out the big guns. Not that Desfossés fared much better, because in the last 36 minutes of game he let in 3 of 19 shots. As a result B-C came out with a glorious 6-3 victory, thus bringing them back into first place in the Telus division, and first overall in the league.
I did not watch the live feed, and I will not watch the archived footage of this game. That being said, I should probably not comment too much on this game or on the actual production of the goalies. Maybe the Quebec D was shit last night? I doubt B-C became an offensive powerhouse, and started snipin' like mad. But who knows? However, if anyone can dole out the appropriate spankings I am sure that person is Patrick Roy.
