Things
2) With two players absent from the blue line, Konrad Abeltshauser because of his wrist and Steve Gillard because of his hip, the Moose decided to call up second round 2009 draft pick Jamie Bishop to join the team. This leaves the Moose with 7 defensemen on the current Quebec road trip. If Alex MacDonald still does not get playing time I will know that something is most definitely 'up' (when the only sinister thing that should be 'up' in the world of teenage boys is their penis). I am prematurely plotting our revenge whether Alex likes it or not.
3) The votes are in and a whopping (:S) 5 votes out of 14 suggest that Tomas Knotek is more cookie-worthy than Sawyer Hannay. In his most recent blog post it would appear as if even John Moore thinks that Hannay is worthy. Anyway Tomas, enjoy your ill-gotten cookies. At this point they have probably gone stale. I am sure you will have a killer game at some point in the future and at that point any reward you receive will be much fresher and tastier. Either you got them for being consistant or my readers just thought you were malnourished and needed a little more meat on your bones.
As for the 5 people who said that Hannay did not deserve cookies - What kind of jerk are you to deny a teenage boy his just desserts (the good kind)? Clearly you do not understand my reward scheme, which gives prizes for stupid things and not necessarily for being the best player on the ice for 60 minutes. For example, say Tomas Knotek had a shitty game and didn't win a single faceoff and could not make a single connecting pass but somehow uncharacteristically made a huge hit at center ice which knocked a guy out - instant cookies.
4) Read John Moore's latest blog post about Konrad Abeltshauser.
5) According to Sportsnet the Mooseheads are still not 'cold' despite the huge loss to Moncton last weekend. Good, it is freezing here in Halifax and I need the team to stay at least tepid in order to keep me not uncomfortable when we cuddle. Look out Prince George Cougars -we are only one point behind ya for worst team in the CHL- RAWR.
6) Former Mooseheads goaltender Mark Yetman is Brock University's Male athlete of the week. The Brock Badgers are currently 3-0-0 and Yetman has a GAA of 1.67 and a 0.848 save%.
7) In order to appear as if I'm not just "obsessed with goalies" I wanted to let you know that I stalk any person with Newfie blood. For example: former Moose defenceman Justin Pender has 2 goals in 2 games with the Trenton Devils. That kinda looks like Pender's chin in the blue shirt - right? Perhaps I am not 'pathetically' obsessed enough with former Mooseheads defencemen to recognize their chins in pictures. Though, later pictures in the series inform me that I have mad chin-spotting skills.
8) I am very happy that David Stich has found a home in the QMJHL since he couldn't (yet) find a home in the North American pro-circuit. He is one of my favorite defencemen in the league. This is because I am pretty sure the guy has balls of steel. HUGE balls of steel. The Saint John Sea Dogs have traded his rights to the Montreal Junior.
8) the CHL top 10 is out and 3 Q teams are on it:
1. Calgary Hitmen (7-2-0-0)
2. Drummondville Voltigeurs (9-1-0-1)
3. Windsor Spitfires (7-3-0-1)
4. Gatineau Olympiques (9-3-0-0)
5. Kamloops Blazers (7-2-2-0)
6. London Knights (7-2-0-0)
7. Kitchener Rangers (6-0-0-1)
8. Vancouver Giants (7-2-0-2)
9. Barrie Colts (7-3-0-0)
10. Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (8-4-2-0)
9) Go Moose Go!

Where to start?
Nice try Moose. For the "worst" team in the CHL to lose 6-5 to the current "best" team in the Q - well hey, its a pretty big accomplishment - the whole not being slaughtered thing. The Moose were even winning for two of three periods...you know, until they weren't.
Veterans showed up - Amyot, Knotek, Bahm, Grant, Cheremetiev and Randell all had points. Bahm got one of those sexy shiners from "defending our honour". Gelinas finally got some cookies. No points for the Moose, but life is somehow still good.
I facebooked that I did "heart, heart, heart Grondin" last night after his fancy glove save (of larceny) and then he made me look foolish by allowing 4 goals in the third period. Now Grondin, I don't mind playing the role of yo' bitch, but don't embarrass me in a public forum.
As I mentioned this morning in an e-mail, I am glad that the veterans have finally started putting points on the board but I have a fear that Cheremetiev will run off to celebrate. I will not see him again for weeks and then suddenly he will show up at the door smelling of cheap booze and cheaper whores. Forgiviness please? Fine, but only because I enjoy a good booty-call and only if he stops wearing v-neck t-shirts. V-neck tees look stupid on boys.

Not COLD, Not COLD:
"woooooooo"
The sportsnet hot /not list
Hot team: Lewiston Maineiacs
Cold Team: Val d'Or Foreurs
Hot player: Nicholas Petersen (Sea Dogs)
Cold Player: Olivier Roy (Screagles)
Now lets' talk about Videos:
John Moore has posted a new piece about Gabe O'Connor on his blog. He has also been posting Mooseheads road videos on his blog "Sports and Moore". They are very amusing but some of them are perhaps too revealing.
Things I have learned:
Jessyko Bernard always wears the nicest shoes but I am disturbed and confused by the the Penguins sticker on his laptop.
This is the face Linden Bahm makes when he realizes that if they are filming him it will be put online ...and if it is put online then I will be watching him. He is creeped out. It is also his "I am not comfortable with you hitting on me like this" face:

Joel Grondin knows how to dress himself. He is so adorable that I want to throw sugary goods at his face.

All boys look good in red. Boys should wear more red:

Jessyko Bernard spends half of his time in his underware. This is because, unlike Linden Bahm, he has no problem with my advances. In fact, it would seem as if he is encouraging me. He knew I was going to go 'there'. That's a whole lot of Jessyko! This isn't even his shirtless video debut! Ohhh and he's hairy. Rawr:

Pender Bender:
The Trenton Devils have released their Training Camp Roster. Pender is indeed ON IT!
Alexandre Leduc:
Finally:
The Bakersfield Condors is the home of 1o (No really - 10) former QMJHL players. They finally put up team photos (not photoshop jobs of boys in condors jerseys) and as usual Pier-Oliver Pelletier is the stunning face (and eyebrows) of perfection while Logan MacMillan looks like he just rolled out of bed (too sexy). Oh and there is VIDEO.
The whole 4 goalie thing confuses and bewilders me though.

Not Hot
Wanna guess the QMJHL representative for 'cold team'?
Cold team: Halifax Mooseheads
The rebuild in Halifax continues as the tough luck Mooseheads could be in for another long season. Halifax opened the new season with four losses by a combined score of 22-10 and might have just as much difficulty scoring goals as preventing them this season. The Mooseheads are still feeling the effects from two seasons ago where they mortgaged their future by loading up for a run at a league title.Let's try to stay off this list, OK.
I used to be a Moose:
Ahhh look at Yeti in a different jersey.
No, don't read the story that accompanies this picture. It is a sad story about the Brock Badgers.

Go goalie! Go Goalie! Go goalie!
The Condors are an affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks also have Q goaltenders Timo Pielmeier (St. John's and Shawinigan) and Marco Cousineau (Baie Comeau and Drummondville) in their system.
Here is the press release (and a picture. oh-la-la):
BAKERSFIELD Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have signed D Patrik Prokop (PROH-kahp) and G Pier-Olivier Pelletier (PEE-air OH-lihv-EE-ay PEHL-tee-ay).I just have one question: How are Yeti and Pier supposed to battle for my love now?
A 2005 second-round draft pick by the Phoenix Coyotes, Pelletier, 22, played for Waterloo of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) in 2008-09. In 11 games, Pelletier posted a record of 7-3-1. His 2.20 goals-against average was tied for second in the league and his .937 save percentage was best in the league.
"I've heard good things about the organization," said Pelletier. "It looks like Bakersfield has a nice rink and it's a good city. I used to play AAA juniors with Alexandre Monahan, Mathieu Aubin and Stephane Goulet, who have already signed with the Condors. I've been to a couple of NHL camps, but I'm excited to start playing at the professional level."
A 6-foot, 2-inch, 192-pound native of St. Louis, Quebec, Pelletier spent his entire junior career in the QMJHL, starring for Drummondville and Halifax. In his final two seasons in the QMJHL, Pelletier went a combined 53-33-5 with a 3.15 goals-against average and .892 save percentage.
In 2007, Pelletier led Drummondville to the quarterfinals of the QMJHL playoffs, posting a record of 7-5-0 with a 3.37 goals-against average and .893 save percentage.
Pelletier also brings international experience to the Condors. He served as the back-up to Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price on the Canadian National Team at the 2005 U-18 World Championships in Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Pelletier has also seen time at NHL Training Camps with Phoenix and Detroit.

Blah Blah Blah + goalies
- Bobby Nadeau (Val d'Or, Chicoutimi, PEI) has an invite to Vancouver Canucks rookie camp. He can probably outplay Raycroft. Dal is sad and has their voodoo doll out just in case. Bobby says something about it being likely that he will be in university *Dal puts down the voodoo doll*.
- Charles Lavigne (Moncton, Quebec) is not getting any love from the pro circuit. He is currently scuttling around Remparts land... just because. He says he would like to go pro but university is still an option. If Charlie needs love I will travel.
- Mark Yetman (and the Brock Badgers) will be back in the Maritimes Sept 18-19 (the dates on the link are wrong - think Friday & Saturday instead) as the Badgers take on the the UNB V-reds in Fredericton. Yetman vs Fullerton - no need to say a word. You can visit Yetman and give him one last lick if you are so inclined... and only if you don't mind driving for 5 hours.
- Chad Earle is now with the Summerside Western Capitals of the MJAHL. Stay bad Chad.
Now taking Applications*:
When I think of goalies I get all tingly in the shell of my nucleus accumbens. Goalies are my hedonic hot spot. In order to wean off one I need to wean onto another; because quitting cold turkey is just too hard. Look at what I am losing after last season:
Oh don't laugh because I included Yetman in there. He was my Mooseheads goalie after all. Four Candidates for my 2008-2009 # 1 QMJHL boyfriend- Pielmeier, Yetman, Nadeau and Lavigne - all gone. I know you are looking at that picture of Lavigne thinking "wow, I never knew that Lavigne was sooo good looking". You are thinking this because you are a fool. Prior to last season you didn't even notice that he was a good goalie. Grow some DAMN eyes, man.Mathieu Corbeil is working hard to fulfill my needs and the demands of 'the people' as the Mooseheads #1 goalie for 2009-1210. According to the Mooseheads twitter feed he was one of the fittest guy on the team at this summer's development camp. Now all he needs is a customized bucket and maybe a haircut (PLEASE).
We ladies respond to thigh-high goalie pads the way men respond to thigh-high hooker boots.
What 20's are left for me this year? Ugh Gelli-donuts (never), Raf D'Orso (only if he shaves the chin-strap), Francois Levesque (feels like Chicoutimi's sloppy seconds. PEI - go figure) , Matt Dopud (is little people + may have seen the Gouge naked = trauma). Think dammit, think.
I would rather live in the past. I have had so many goalie 'boyfriends' over the years that I have decided to give a brief review of what some of my more recent exes have been up to since they left the Q.
Stalking Victim #1 - Ryan Mior:
Last season, goaltender Mior split the year between the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League and the Port Huron Icehawks** of the International Hockey League (as of January 20th). In 15 games with the Mudbugs and 19 games with the Icehawks, Mior recorded GAAs of 2.63 and 1.94 respectively. He also registered an assist in Port Huron.
Mior won the rookie of the week award as well as two goalie of the week awards and subsequently the IHF rookie of the month in Jan 2009 while playing for the IceHawks
Mior finished his season with the Icehawks with a .925 sv% and a 1.94 GAA in 15 games. Impressive. At the end of the season Mior remained unprotected by the Hawks and was picked up by Dayton Gems in the IHL expansion draft. He posted a 3-1-0-1 record for the month of January, earning a shutout in his first IHL start. The shutout came on January 24th when he closed the door on 18 shots from Kalamazoo. Mior also earned his second shutout in just three starts on January 30th in Fort Wayne, making a total of 25 saves. He finished the month making 105 saves with a .955 save percentage. The 21-year-old St. John’s, Newfoundland native only allowed five goals against, giving him a 1.23 goals against average for the month.
Ryan Mior still totally looks like dirty sex. That is all.
________________________________________________
* I wrote this post in July. I am slow
**Kevin Desfosses (Quebec Remparts) had been playing for the Icehawks but by the end of the season he was with the McGill Redmen. Apparently goalies are slutty and they move around a lot. it is just like how Mior quit U.Waterloo and my one-true-love Pier-Olivier Pelletier took his place. I would never call Pier a slut; he is a delight and he smells like candy necklaces.

Nostradamus does it again
Whew. I hate when I get these things wrong. Therefor I am glad I got it right and did not post misinformation when I came across it. George and Richie can now gossip about the Moose behind their backs from the safety of Montreal.
In other interesting (???) trade news* the Mooseheads have swapped Matthew Burns to the Rouyn Noranda Huskies for a 12th round pick in 2010.
Matthew Wuest has a few more articles posted: one on 2009 draft pick Kody Orr, another on their import pick Konrad Abeltschauser, and an update on some old Gerrad Grant news. There is also a general piece about the training camp.
I find Konrad's eyebrows to be absolutely mystifying.
*admittedly, not that interesting

ORLY?
According to Matthew Wuest former Mooseheads Bryce Swan has received yet another try out for an NHL team. This time it is the Wild. Swan was a draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks but he was a total bitch and turned down two contracts despite severe and extremely disappointing (at least to me) underperformance with the Moose. I was so disappointed by my continuous lack of satisfaction that I broke up with him and focused my attention on Andrew White.
Swanny then had a tryout with the Detroit Red Wings last year. He was rejected and went on to play with the StFX University X-men of the CIS where he had 22 points in 29 games.
On the other hand his StFX teammate Brett Morrison had a highly successful Q career but was rejected from the Ducks, who drafted him in round 5, 2007, and to my knowledge was not invited to Ducks development/training camp last year nor has he been offered a contract. Brett led all players from StFX with 31 pts (12G, 19A) in 27 games. Little dude can't even get his tuition payed for by the Q. I feel like he is constantly screwed over...and for that I like him and sympathize. It is unfortunate for a boy with such magnificent eyebrows.
Don't ask me why Bryce Swan getting all these chances pisses me off - it just does.
PS . Speaking of hockey players from Cape Breton - Screaming Eagles Captain and Syndey native Chris Culligan has committed to the UNB varsity reds for the upcoming season.

Hide your wives and daughters...
I mean ladies, how can you resist 2006-2007 Yeti?
Awwwwww he is too fucking cute. So smiley and so happy just to be a Moosehead. I swear when I look at this guy I realize that in 2006-2007 I never had a single Yetman induced corrupt thought pass through my otherwise sinisterly dirty mind. Give him a teddy bear and a lollipop! No, don't put him in your womb...he is too big. This is the guy that took Lewiston down in the 2007 playoffs. The only one to do so in Lewiston's entire playoff run. He doesn't look that dangerous. Does he?
Then there is this guy - 2007-2008 Yeti:

I couldn't touch him with a 10ft pole. He was claimed by my girlfriend Claudia. You know how females are- we 'claim' hockey players and if our friends give our player a little of the sexy side-eye then we pull their hair and claw out their eyes. It turns out that older ladies really like Mark Yetman.
Ahhhh forbidden fruit. I should have known that sooner or later it would all go horribly horribly wrong. First there was that threesome with Pier-Olivier Pelletier. Then there was that threesome with Andrew White. Then there was that threesome...
Wow, Mark really likes swordfighting! But I digress...
2008-2009 Yeti:
This is the one that all the ladies want. Single and ready to mingle, our abominable netminder decided to grow a little facial foliage in an attempt to convince the ladies that he really was 20. It worked. I too was smit (it's like smitten, just roll with it).
I think it is all the sweat from the 55 games played as starting goaltender that makes him so appealing. After 3 years with the team he was finally able to get some high quality "starting goaltender tail" - or at least one would hope. All I know was that he wasn't hitting this. I will assume he was getting it on with more age-appropriate partners. Those girls don't care about wins and losses or even save %. When questioned they can blame the 35 losses on the rest of the team.Lord only knows what 2009-2010 Yetman will look like. Will he get hotter as he ages or is it all downhill after 20? All we know is that he will be wearing this on his chest...

...and he will be legal in the States. Mothers watch your daughters! Daughters watch your mothers! Husbands, ummmmmm yeah you should keep an eye open really, really wide!
Fiiiiiiiine. I confess. I am coming out of the closet on this one: I like Mark Yetman*. There, are you happy? I like him like I like nachos and beer. I know he is bad for me - the stats tell me so, but sometimes it gets very tempting. You've seen the glove hand on one of his hot nights haven't you? What about his sudden ability to play the puck? *Le sigh* for puckhandling! And then there is the goalie gear - it's like my catnip. The worst part is that I am torn between protective 'big sister' feelings and 'molesty' feelings. I creep myself the fuck out. It is because of this that he is better off in Ontario.
*you know, when I am not hating Mark Yetman

Hey, I recognize you.
Tanguay, who played his past few seasons with the Victoriaville Tigres (Dude must REALLY like tigers) was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2007. If you are not aware, yesterday was the signing deadline for all 2007 CHL draft picks. Denis Reul of the Lewiston MAINEiacs and Randy Cameron of the Moncton Wildcats were also passed over by their respective NHL clubs.
Also, do I have to point out that Tanguay is from Lac Etchemin, the same town as Bobby Nadeau, Dal's very first and fanciest recruit for 2009-2010? At the time Nadeau agreed to join the Tigers Coach Belliveau said that he has “a lot of lines in the water” and that he hopes Nadeau’s commitment helps. “It might be a domino effect,” said Belliveau. “He has a lot of friends in the Q who are very, very good hockey players. We might get more recruits through him.”
More recruits indeed.
Dal has also recruited other former CHLers including PEI goaltender Bobby Nadeau *swoon*, Huskies defenceman Benoit Gervais, and forwards Shea Kewin (Sea Dogs), and Daniel Bartek (Wheat Kings/ *edit Silvertips). In addition they snagged another fancy Swede in Gabriel Lundin which should put the Swedish total up to 3. I wonder if they all like the Cardigans?
Edit: In actual Mooseheads news, former Moose Petr Vrana is no longer with the Devils organization (sads), but has opted to sign with Vitkovice of the Czech Extraliga.
* Thanks Schultzie

Did you know...
I was slow on it but I bet you were too.
In his time with the Checkers PJ recorded 23 points (9 goals and14 assists) in 41 games. With the Roadrunners he had another 2 goals and 3 assists in the final 11 games of the season. The Roadrunners did not qualify for playoff contention. The team, an affilite of the Sharks franchise, will be folding at the end of this season. What will become of our beloved little Peter James?

Friggin' adorable
He looks like the kinda guy who would make sure the coffee is on before you roll out of bed and who would give you a self made birdhouse "just because". I wish he was here skating quickly for me and scoring totally unexpected goals *sigh*.
In 19 regular season games with the Timberwolves White has had 17 goals, 12 assists, and a whopping 44 penalty minutes. Yes 44 PIM, how very un-Whitey of him. He leads the Timberwolves in playoff points with 8 goals and 5 assists in 9 games. Currently the 1st place Summerside Western Capitals are up 2-0 in the best of 7 playoff round against the 'wolves.

Chad Earle was naughty
This however would explain why he was not on the roster for their most recent games. Apparently he was released for "off-ice" issues. Ohhhhh very naughty Chad Earle - you deserve spankings.
Bryce Swan aka Don Juan
The ladies love him - even some boys are caught up in his man beauty. Don't look directly at his smile... you'll be hypnotized by the shine and by the fact that he plays on the X-Men Hockey team.
There are several girls who may think they are dating him, but in all reality are just part of his tangled web of hearts. According to Bryce, he is "single and ready to mingle".
After being used and abused by this heartbreaker, it is time to put the hearts and minds of confused girls everywhere to rest.
You are not dating Bryce Swan if:
1. he sends you sex-messages also known as text messages. He send them to everyone.
2. He calls you pet names including: baby girl, honey bunny, sugar tits, sassy pants, beautiful or mama.
3. as much as he talk about it...he isn't putting his p in your v.
4. you have been "hanging out" for a month... but still don't know any of his friends, nor have you ever seen HIS house.
5. he gets more than 5 text messages when you are hanging out alone with him. They are not all from his mom.
4. he goes on ghost hunts with you, or shares special moments with you
5. he drives you places - like to class - in his sweet ride.
6. when you ask to hang out at 10... he pushes it back to 12 -> he's got a strict schedule of dates.
7. he sits next to you in class.
8. you have heard the words "I'm too busy with the hockey team to give what you need / be in a committed relationship with you".
9. You only leave the pub through the back door.
10. you are his friend on facebook
Concerning the statement that the NHL wants him but he would rather be playing for X - well that part is simply bullshit.
I used to be dating Bryce Swan but then Keven Veilleux made chicken legs at him and he did nothing. I found this simply intolerable, so I dumped his ass for a Newf - Andrew White. Those were the days. I miss Andrew White. I do not miss Bryce Swan.
So it turns out that many people may be dating Bryce Swan, at least 41...sadly though, his fanclub only has two members. My friend NB, who is from North Sydney, is definitely not dating that lothario Bryce Swan. She did not enjoy the way he was trying to pick up her friend on a late night pizza date. Oh and the fact that he was not single at the time.

Did somebody here order a pizza?
The CHL has named its top 10 as well as its players of the week....and the Q is totally representing.
The CHL top 10 are:
1. Windsor Spitfires (48-6-0-1)
2. Calgary Hitmen (48-7-3-1)
3. Vancouver Giants (46-5-0-3)
4. Shawinigan Cataractes (42-11-2-0)
5. Drummondville Voltigeurs (43-9-0-3)
6. Quebec Remparts (41-10-0-3)
7. Saskatoon Blades (41-13-3-1)
8. Brampton Battalion (36-14-1-1)
9. Belleville Bulls (35-15-2-2)
10. Brandon Wheat Kings (38-15-3-1)
The CHL pizza delivery boy (bow-chicka-wow-wow) of the week is Drummondville's Yannick Riendeau, while the security guard is Moncton goaltender Nicola Riopel. Why are Riendeau and Riopel dressed up as a pizza delivery boy and security guard, respectively, you ask? Sexy games!!! Oh, don't act like you have never seen one of 'those' movies!
Riopel won three games with one shutout posting a goals-against-average of 0.67 and a save percentage of .975. Riopel started his week on Thursday at home to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies where he made 21 saves in the 6-1 win. His best game of the week was on Saturday when the Wildcats hosted the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Riopel earned second star of the game honours with his fifth shutout of the season turning aside all 23 shots fired his way. Riopel was sensational to finish the week on Sunday on the road in Saint John where he was recognized as first star of the game for making 33 saves to beat the Sea Dogs 3-1.
Moose Stuffing:
Sometimes you learn the most delightful things from game programs. One of those things being that Matt Boland's proudest hockey acheivement was having once won an Academic player of the month award. That is just too fucking cute. Then he told us his nickname is Goose, I presume because he is from Gander Nfld and not because he swallows his food without chewing. He is trying to make me want to sit in his lap and mess up his fauxhawk. Stop charming me Boland *side eye*. What are you up to? Nothing good I am sure!
Jan Stransky was January's player of the month for his 6 goals and 2 assists (+2) in 7 games played. Alexis Piette was awarded academic player of the month.
Mark Yetman has started wandering around the ice during breaks in play because he suddenly thinks that he is other goalies. Pffff the other goalies look up, silly fool!!! Look up (oh hello!), or don't look up (pout)... all that matters is that we don't do anything that messes with his 'game'. It has been decent lately, and sometimes it gets downright sexy. Do we give credit to the boy or his beastly *rawr* new beard? We call this goaltender February- March Yeti. Yeah... this is the guy everyone fell in love with at the end of last season. Don't get too attached... it is just a spring fling. Moose fans will use him up and spit him out. They are the cruelest to their tender little netminders.
CIS stuffing:
Former Moosehead Colby Pridham has been playing with the Saint Mary's Huskies hockey team this year.... you know, when he is not wandering around the concourse of the Metro centre longing for his glory days as a Moose. There was an article in the Chronicle Herald earlier this week, and it praised all things Colby Pridham.
But it’s Pridham — who has scored six goals and 22 points but skates against the opponent’s top players — whom SMU head coach Trevor Stienburg says is as valuable to his team as anyone. In other AUS news, former Saint John Seadog/Lewiston MAINEiacs goaltender Travis Fullerton's shutout run with the UNB Varsity reds lasted a total of 292 minutes and 39 seconds. How orgasmic is that? It came to an end at the hands of StFX's Will Colbert. In 12 games played Fullerton has a 7:3:0:3* record with a 1.78 GAA and a 0.913 Save %. Those stats are too hot for words...let's just bask in them for a quick second * bask*. After a slow start to the season it is always nice to see a goalie pick it up and reaffirm my faith in him. When it comes to my goalie-loves I hate to make mistakes and choose the wrong boy."The thing about Colby is that he plays well on both sides of the puck," Stienburg said.
"He has some speed and he’s a very versatile player for us. We can put him in a lot of different positions; we can put him on the point during the power play. He’s a good centreman who understands the game well. He can play in any situation and that’s something not a lot of guys can do."
According to Pridham... "The two-way role is my game and I don’t think that’ll change. Playing both ends of the rink is what I do. I’m not the guy who’s going to be the leading scorer. I think it’s important for myself and the team to take care both ends of the rink. We have lots of guys who can put the puck in the net. I’ll just try to keep them out."
On that note may I also point out that Pier-Olivier Pelletier is leading the OUA with a 1.97 GAA and 0.939 save % in 9 games and a 6:1:0:1 record. Waterloo are the 9th ranked team in the CIS.
I mean, sure he has played less games then all of the other goalies, and stats do not tell you everything about a game, but still, you have got to give him props for this season... and you DO have to awknowledge when stats are totally squeeworthy.
In other AUS/ Former Mooseheads news:
Garrett Peters (SMU) has 3 goals and 5 assists for 9 points in 27 games.
Bryce Swan (StFX) has 13 goals and 9 assists for 22 points in 25 games.
Ryan Seymour (UNB) has 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points in 20 games.
Logan MacMillan (Halifax Mooseheads/ Rimouski Oceanic) has been interviewed for inside the Q.
...and just as a bonus - Peter-James Corsi, who plays for the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL, has 4 goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 28 games. You wanna know about Hiller too? Check it out yourself you damn hobo. I mean, shouldn't the Ryan Hiller dick sucking committee/local newspapers be covering that stuff? I do the vast majority of my cooing at French boys, Newfies and that delightful new undergrad I work with... he smells good and has the fluffiest hair.
* I am well aware that it doesn't add up.... which is why I fixed it to add the Shootout losses.

Monday updates: Where Raf is king!
Yep, sportsnet have once again named the Halifax Mooseheads the cold team of the week:
A trip to Northern Québec did little to stop the bleeding for the Mooseheads, who dropped both contests at Val-d'Or and Rouyn-Noranda. Halifax has lost six straight games and won just twice in their last 10. With the recent emergence of the Foreurs, Halifax has the inside track on the first overall pick as they hold the fewest points at 31.Hilarious, but sadly no... the Foreurs not only have their own 1st round pick, but they also have the Mooseheads' - *sighs*.
The Oceanic are the hot team, Raf D'Orso (Foreurs goaltender) is the hot player and Pierre-Luc Lessard (Drakkar defenceman) is the cold player.
The QMJLH Players of the week are the aforementioned Raffaele D'Orso (seen to your left, looking hot in goalie gear... as this is what goalie gear is prone to do to the average boy) and Jacob Legace of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.See my Moosies, it is not your fault you could not win, Raffaele would not have allowed it. Raf was just feeling all fancy this week, bolstered by his shutout over the Junior de Montreal and his 1.33 GAA /0.971 save%. He just wanted to feel like the old Raffaele, the dreamy girl magnet with the good stats... let him have this one little joy. Then pin him down and shave his douchetastic chin strap - it does not do him justice.
Tee Hee:
I would recognize those eyebrows from across an ocean (Image from the U Waterloo Warriors homepage). WTF Pier? You are not allowed to wear RBKs, you are a Vaughn's man!!!This past weekend Pier backstopped the U Waterloo Warriors in back-to-back wins over Thunder bay's Lakehead Thunderwolves.
Pier Pelletier continued his phenomenal play for the Warriors this weekend as he turned aside 71-75 shots, earning him Warrior of the week honours. Some peeps can fuss over Marchand and Bodnarchuk but I am going to stick with fussing over Pelletier, thank you very much. I am glad he is appreciated somewhere.

I could hug a goalie
Re. a game against the Laurier Golden Hawks (Jan 22rd) in which the Warriors won 3-0 (yeah, second shutout)
At times it appeared the Warriors were sitting back trying to protect their lead, which may have led to a Laurier comeback if not for the acrobatic goaltending of Pier Pelletier (QC). Pelletier had his third strong performance since joining the Warriors and brought his save percentage up to a ridiculous .986.
Re. the game against Western on Jan 23th, a 4-3 loss
The Warriors got off to a slow start in this one and found themselves playing much of the first period in their own end. Western could have easily gone taken control of the game in the first if not for Pier Pelletier (St. Loius-du-Ha!Ha!, QUE), who once again wowed the crowd with his acrobatics between the pipes. Now that is a goalie I can get behind: he looks good, he smells good, and his cheeks turn the cutest shade of pink when he blushes because you embarrassed him (or scared him, because you are a creepy MOFO) .
