Three Mooseheads goals by Randall, Gillard and Gelinas.
Joel Grondin had some wonderful saves and he had another assist tonight. Kisses to the goalie.
This is Yuri's second game in a row without a single shot on net.
Sometimes I wonder why Randell is paired with Knotek...then he goes and gets a goal just to tell me to go fuck myself. I like his spite (with a sprinkling of assist + a cherry on top).
Carl Gelinas had 7 shots on net.
Talk about a failure to pass. Oh sure, everyone was trying to pass, the puck just never made it from tape to tape.
Abeltshauser/Clarke - stop it with the turnovers. I know that Abeltshauser was on the ice for that ill-fated, short-handed goal by Patrice Cormier... but at least two defencemen can be held responsible for that giveaway. Other unknown defenceman on the ice (i am guessing it was Clarke) - please also sit in the corner and think about what you have done.
Steve Gillard made me clap. Cookies to Gillard for correcting his own mistake (please don't expect me to remember the details) and for a goal.
Matt Stoddard, scoring machine? Can someone please explain why he was (temporarily???) put on the top line? Our goaltender, Grondin, has 2 more points than Stoddard. This does not bode well for the guy who was brought in to provide secondary scoring.
Stoddard also had a penalty shot. He lost control of the puck.
Actually, our "lines" make no sense at all.
Tomas Knotek gets a much deserved star for winning 19 of 27 faceoffs and for his 7 shots on net. Even then there were times when I thought he could have shot instead of passing.
Moose 2/8 on the PP.
The Moose could not even get control of the puck when Dopud was down, out, AND stickless. These are wasted opportunities. I have seen 'Timbits' take better advantage of an empty net.
Hey Good Lookins. Nice to see that you have finally woken up. I made you pancakes with raspberry coulis and I put on a big pot of coffee. Get some clothes on those hot little bodies of yours and meet me in the kitchen mmmkay?
God, your 'morning-after' hair is cute. Have a seat at the table; I'll pour you a coffee. What is that music? Oh that is Radiohead.
No, I am not changing the music. I really wouldn't expect you to listen to them. Stupid jock *sighs*. What? No, nothing! I didn't say anything!
Anyway, do you like the pancakes? The raspberries are too sweet? Sorry, I did have a little accident with the sugar, but if I were you I don't think I would be in any position to complain, especially after last night.
Let me explain. I think you are hot* and everything, you get me all riled up, but last night was a little disappointing. When I first saw you I didn't know what to think. I saw two different girls slip their hands between your thighs in under 10 minutes and you did nothing to stop them. I thought you were a total man ho. Every little piece that came your way was all over you. I have no idea how it was that you ended up coming home with me.
Oh yeah. I had fun. It was fun. You look good, you smell good, and you are really really big. What is the average height of your defensive corps again? But the thing is, and I don't want you to be offended or anything, but your technique is sloppy. There were so many times that we got so close. The net was all open for ya baby, all you had to do was go for it, but you panicked. You were just slapping your stick at things and flailing around.
You had me screaming for you, you had me all flustered...but you just didn't have that finish. I was left more than a little disappointed. No it's OK, I'm used to it, but you just need to be calm, you need to use those soft hands. I was told that you are not very skilled, but ummmm, you definitely showed it last night.
The rundown: The game was Halifax's to win and they had, like, so many opportunities to get the puck in the net but they just could not do it. Eight power play opportunities, one power play goal. Ugh. 35 shots on net. Dopud was not overflowing with mad skills, the little bastard was simply lucky that no one could lift that puck up over his tiny body when it was down.
The Oceanic had gotten 2 goals (Cormier, Delisle-Hood) on 4 shots by the end of the first period, slutty slutty five-hole goals that just trickled in through Yetman. Just before we gave up all hope Muttley (from Dick Dastardly) got the puck into the Oceanic net on a sloppy rebound at 19:55.
Then I had ample reason to hate on Gougeon again because as that little douche was heading to the locker room he mocked Jessyko's goal video. I want to gouge out his eyeballs with a spoon and feed them to him... maybe the protein will help him grow.
The Moose showed a moment of skill on the power play when Tomas Knotek faked on a shot (maybe, it is hard to tell if the little fake was there), passed to Desjardins who was on the other side of the slot, and then Desjardins hit it home. Passes that connect, and calm skill...it was nice. No hesitation, no fear, no panic.
But that was it: Delisle-Hood and Caron got two power play goals (2 of 6) for the Oceanic in the late second and mid-third period. Former Moosehead Logan MacMillan had an assist on the Delisle-Hood goal. The refs were being zombocratic...making calls for both sides on things that did not appear to be penalties.
Yetman got it together later in the game and finished the night off with 28 saves on 32 shots, including having shut down a few break-away opportunities for the Oceanic. He may also have received a lecture on water bottle placement.
Piette was once again King of faceoffs having won 12 of 16. Moose dominated the faceoffs, winning 43 of 69.
Randell, I am fond of you, and you know I love a kicky Newf accent, but you are just not Power play material. Please tell your coaches this. In 51 games you have 14 points- 5 goals and 9 assists. You have one power play goal. I think the coaching staff are trying to make you into something you are not. I mean maybe you ARE power play material in practice, but it is just not translating in the real game. I saw you Friday, you had that perfectly clear shooting lane...and you passed. I am not the kind of person who yells shoot all willy nilly... that is for fools, but honey, you should have shot.
So yeah Moose, you were good, you tried hard, it was lots of fun (at least for me), and you are really nice to look at but you just couldn't get it done. Do you want a second try? How about Tuesday?
* I don't care if you are good looking Stransky...you are not allowed to say that you are good looking. Wrong answer. Please see my lecure to Mark " I am good looking" Yetman and Gerrad "I have the body of a model" Grant. You are now officially on my list of boys to mock.
Disclaimer: I love Keven Veilleux…except when he is playing against the Moose, at which point he becomes my Boyfrienemy or at least he would if he were my boyfriend…which he is not. He is more of a secret Lovenemy – but I think the secret is kinda blown because every time I say his name I mention that I secretly love him, and I probably love him because he drives me crazy. Girls are such suckas.
1st The game starts with a penalty to Keven Veilleux for cross-checking Cheremetiev. I sometimes forget that Keven plays for Riki now. It has been almost a year…you would think it would have sunk in by now. Anyway - Bad secret lover Keven…bad, bad, bad.
Rimouski get their 1st goal on their 6th shot. Yeti probably should have had that one. It was it low blocker side shot by Czech import Tomas Petracek – a defenceman playing the wing for this evening. This is his first goal of the season (and in the Q). Piche then scored for Riki on their 8th shot with about 1 minute left in the period, on what was possibly a turnover in the Moose zone? That is what the announcer (John Moore?) says…I missed the goal. I am barely watching the game.
Moose are losing 2-0 after the first despite possibly outplaying Rimouski (more shots, more won faceoffs, more hustle, and more time spent in the oceanic zone).
2nd Bety gets the Moose's first goal (assisted by new guy Matt Boland)…hopefully cementing him a spot in Friday’s lineup. Luca Cunti (from Piche and Caron) then gets Riki their third goal on their 13th shot. Eric Louis-XVI had a 2 on 1 chance for the Moose, but instead of shooting he passed back to Randell, who was covered and couldn’t control the puck so... Uh…no goal. Please remember…you shoot then the other guy is there to get the rebound. K?
Jessyko Bernard (from Knotek and Cheremetiev) then made me feel better by planting a puck top shelf. Throw kisses at Jessyko Bernard. You could actually kiss him if you choose (just run up to him with wild abandon and scare him with kisses)…but he still has a little moustache that kinda looks like a puberty moustache…so I think I’ll stay away until that is gone. I will, however, make him cookies and hot chocolate.
Every time I am not looking Riki get a goal (1:18), and there are no replays. That is now 4 goals on 18 shots. The post game recap indicated that the puck was passed from behind the net, to 'secret lovenemy' Keven who was in the slot and behind the Moose D…he then had 1000 years to think about his next move before he rifled it past Yetman.
Dear Keven, Grrrrrr Love, Me
3rd Riki is out playing the Moose and hitting, hitting, hitting, and yet still no one is able to get a goal. The game ends with the Moose having a 6 on 4, but they were not able to capitalize despite a lot of pressure in the Oceanic end. I am just glad we did not give up an empty net goal this time.
Elsewhere in the Q tonight: The Acadie-Bathurst Titan defeated the Montreal Junior 4-0. You would think the Titan would have dominated the stars…but they did not. My Titan Boyfriend Tomy Joly had two goals. Much like Keven Veilleux, the only day Tomy and I can be together are those days when the Titan play in our barn, and yet those are the days when Tomy and I are fighting. Fighting results in one of those temporary break-ups. Sucks eh? I usually get over it in about 24 hours.
But that is not the crazy part, the crazy part is the fact that the Titan defeated Montreal 4-0 despite being outshot by Montreal 39-12. YES…that is correct 39-12. The Titan only threw 9 good hits all game…and still won. They won less face offs, 29 to 36…and yet still – SHUTOUT. Jake Allen allowed 3 goals on 8 shots in 15 minutes before he was replaced by Berube, who allowed 1 goal on 4 shots.
Yeah you read me right. After joining the baby Penguins for their Calder cup run, the growed-up Penguins have finally decided to sign 18 year old Rimouski Oceanic forward Keven Veilleux (formerly of the Victoriaville Tigre) to a 3 year contract with the big club. I think that while he is on the Baby Penguin's roster, he has not actually been playing any games (since no playoff stats are available).
Oh secret lover Keven Veilleux WHY? WHY? Does this mean we will have to break up now? I do not want to break up, I love secretly loving you. Ugh, It all feels so dirty.
Holy crap... the Drakkar are out and my secret boyfriend Keven Veilleux of the Rimouski Oceanic (formerly of the Victoriaville Tigres) is totally mostly to blame with his 2 goals and 2 assists. The Drakkar have lost tonight's game 5-2 and the series 4-1. All the defense in the world could not help them in the face of offense...and to think we wanted Lessard. I guess defense does not always win championships. Oh my, I can't believe that those words could even be typed by my fingers because I am a total whore for defense . The team that ended the regular season with 96 points goes out in 5 games to a team with only 67 points. Rimouski will be moving on and facing the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the second round of the QMJHL playoffs.
AND THE MOOSEHEADS WON. I caught the first two periods before a work related pot luck tore me away from my computer - and we were up 5-2. By the end it was 7-2. Justin Pender got another goal, and then Jake finally started to get things going by the end of the second. But the big name of the night was kindred spirit Colby Pridham with 3 goals and an assist- excuse me while I go rub myself with potatoes. I will have more to say later, I need to watch the third before I use my stumpy fingers to type more words. For now satisfy yourself with a picture of Colby Pridham, a ref (ugh) and some Tigres. Sigh, it is almost as if we were there.
