It's not that I don't like you...

...I'm just kinda busy.

Admittedly, I have been negligent. Today I am stuck on a microscope, and while it scans my preps I have nothing to do in my downtime but proofread my paper for the publishers (blech) OR blog (hooray?).
I choose to blog. I am about 7 days too late and this is a quickie, so you'll have to excuse the mess (spelling and grammar wise).

Tonight the Mooseheads will be in Quebec city to take on Delmas' OTHER old team, the Quebec Remparts, and their new fluffy adorable netminder LBD. No offence to LBD, but I hope the Moose can challenge him tonight...and win (big disillusioned dreams, I know).

Last weekend the Mooseheads took on the Bathurst Titan and the PEI Rocket in two really hard fought games. They lost both of them but managed to walk away with a point from the PEI game, which went into a shootout. Let me explain in more detail.

Halifax Mooseheads vs Bathurst Titan (Loss 2-1)
The game started wonderfully with a Mooseheads goal by Charles Bety only a minute into the game. However after that, the Mooseheads took shot after shot but they couldn't score. They made Lacerte look so awesome (except they really didn't...but statistically they did) that he was even nominated for the QMJHL defensive player of the week award.

Delmas was good but the first goal he allowed was a total snoozer because he lost sight of the puck. Other than that he had to play a much better game than Lacerte. I think I am starting to fall for Delmas.

The other positive note was the penalty kill. The Moose managed to kill off 8 penalties including two long 5 on 3s. Hannay spent the entire time just sitting in the box looking pretty (pretty toothless), which really wasn't helping matters.

At some point Paul Dimitruk was pensive and he thought "why doesn't Q-girl ever pay attention to me". In order to get my attention he pretended he had a puck in his pants (for the purposes of looking like he had a bigger schlong? - someone knows how to get my attention!). It pretty much fooled everyone because for a good length of time a couple of guys stood around him staring while he fidgeted with his pants in front of the Bathurst net. Just behind him a couple of other guys were playing hockey - Yes, they had the puck.

I don't pay attention to Paul because I have been paying attention to Jessyko Bernard. He has been so awesome lately. *Le sigh.* I just had to say it.

With under a minute left in the game Bathurst was able to score. It destroyed my spirits. I hate Bathurst so much. This is another case of Mission NOT Accomplished. If the Mooseheads do not defeat Bathurst at least once this season there may be mass fan suicide.

Abeltshauser and Bety were awarded with stars of the game but cookies go to young Mr. Bradley MacDonald for his shot blocking. Kisses go to Sawyer Hannay's missing tooth. No, I don't want to put my tongue in the hole where his tooth was.  The smile that could light up a thousand rooms is gone.

Halifax Mooseheads vs PEI Rocket (Loss 2-1, shootout)
This game marked the appearance of a cup on the ice...or something that looked like a cup on the ice. How a cup falls out of a boy's jock strap mid game I will never know. I personally think it was just another ploy to get my attention and to remind me that boys have junk. My boyfriend is not amused. Nor is Jessyko, who had his goal, the only Mooseheads goal,  upstaged by a cup.

May I recommend that Jessyko give the rest of the group a lesson on one-timers during the next practice?

The game went into shootout and the shootout went to the 9th round before PEI got their second goal. Gerrad Grant had the only shootout goal for the Mooseheads. I was mildly pissed because I watched a parade of boys go to the net (squee - Jessyko was #2) but Charles Bety was not one of them. I think that maybe Bety has a little more finesse than some of the pluggers who got a chance.

Cookies go to Mathieu Corbeil for having an absolute stunner of a game. Back with a vengeance? I know Mathieu prabably wants to throw those cookies back at me and say "bitch these are stale", but I made them Wednesday while I was listening to the Maineiacs game...which went long and then I was stuck in the kitchen with nothing to do but wash the dishes. I am so angry about the dish washing.

So the point of this story is, yes, I do actually make too many real cookies. Now I need someone to help me eat them. They are chocolate chip and pecan...but I made the mistake of too much whole wheat flour and they have "textural issues". Oh, and I am also happy that the Mooseheads got a point but I would have been happier if they got three points last weekend. Have I told you lately how much I HATE Bathurst?

Halifax Mooseheads vs Lewiston MAINEiacs (Mooseheads win 6-5, in shootout)
Apparently Lewiston had started the scoring but the Moose kept managing to tie it up. It was 1-1 coming out of the first and 3-3 coming out of the second, which is when I tuned into the game.

The Moose finally pulled ahead in the third and were up 5-3 with under 10 minutes remaining in the game.
Moosehead goals were by Randell, Grant, Bernard, Clarke and Gelinas. After this they started to fuck with me by allowing a Lewiston goal with about 6 minutes reamining on the clock, and thus inviting me to mumble under my breath "don't you dare" while smuggling spoonfuls of butter and 2 kinds of sugar into my mouth (mmmm pre-cookie dough).

They dared!

Lewiston tied it up and brought it into OT with 1.7 seconds left on the clock. The Mooseheads had an empty net on the other end for over a minute. OVER A MINUTE! May I suggest the next drill that the boys do in practice is shoot at empty nets.

The Moose finally took it in the shootout when Knotek and Grant were both able to score, while Lewiston went 0/2.

Props to the power play which went 3/5. Cookies go to Garrett Clarke for having a bazillion points (1G, 2A) and NO penalties.

Spankings, Accomplished!

So yes, the Halifax Mooseheads handily defeated the Lewiston Maineiacs by a score of  7-3.  The rumours are all true. The Mooseheads are now within 5 points of a playoff spot.

In case my busy work schedule never gives me a chance to blog again - cookies go to Alex Lemieux  for feeling the need to follow the puck into the net...on his bum. Managing to get a whole human boy past the goaltender has to count for something. I would prefer if it counted for two goals. That now makes it an 8-3 Mooseheads win - hopefully the QMJHL website updates its stats accordingly. Not only that but both Lemieux and Gelinas each have three goals in their past three games. It was a big weekend boys- congrats.

Actually it was a big weekend overall since the team managed 15 goals (+1 human goal) in three games. That is a lot of boys getting a lot of goals.

As for Corbeil and I, every game our love grows. It is just like that "with every step, love grows" pendant from Charm diamond Centre (or Zales). If he is not careful I will buy him one. Mathieu Corbeil has been ensconced in ahmazing. Oh, I know it looks like a blue snuggie (to match the pendant), but that is what ahmazingness looks like. Corbs now has a 3.25 GAA and 0.897 save % in 25 games. I know those numbers don't seem awesome, but it is all relative - considering the team and considering the start they had to the season.

While the team is now awesome, I can't say the same for some of the people who sit around me. Even when the team was winning 7-1 (sadly, not the final score) they could still  find something to complain about. When someone is carrying the puck they should be shooting it or passing it. When someone is passing it they should be carrying it or shooting it. Carrying it is considered too fancy but passing it is considered too risky. All activities should lead to immediate shooting, irrespective of whether there is an opening in the net or a guy there to get the rebound. If you are reading this and thinking that it sounds bizarre - you are right. Now ask yourself: "Am I highly irrational while watching hockey games"? If so, the solution is to keep your mouth shut. You are just annoying those who sit around you.

...and then there was the guy sitting in front of me complaining about Yetman. I was wondering if  I could trephinate him with my high heeled shoe. Don't EVER fuck with my goalies.

I hate being surrounded by so much negativity.

Kisses better

The bad and the good:
On Wednesday Mooseheads draft pick Kody Orr was in a car accident. Don't panic, he is fine....kinda. My best wishes go out to Kody and his friends and I hope they all have a speedy recovery.

Pender goes to Camp:
The NJ Devils held their development camp last week. Invitees never get special attention and so there is not much new to report about former Moosehead defenceman Justin Pender but the Devils do have information about training camp on their website. Videos are for special draft pics like Lewiston's Eric Gelinas.

During the final scrimmage on Friday Tedenby deflected a Pender shot from the point. Sound familiar? Then Tendenby stole all of Pender's candy and left the ice.

Tweet:
If you have not done so already, subscribe to the Mooseheads twitter feed. NOW!!! Apparently:
1) Abeltshauser is repping Germany in the under 18s in Switzerland
2) Travis Randell has a summer job and enjoys trouting. He may be trying to turn into Andrew White so that I will fall into imaginary love with him.

Hey Playa, THAT feels even better.

Tonight the Mooseheads took on the MAINEiacs at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston. This time we won - WITH A SHUTOUT. I don't even have to pull out a calculator to figure out the save percentage on this one, as Mark Yetman stopped 43 of 43 shots for the win.

How stressful were the last two minutes of play? Answer - so very f'n stressful. We gave Lewiston a power play with just under two minutes remaining in the game and had to finish it off playing 4 on 6 hockey.

Mooseheads goals were scored by rookies Ned O'Brien (Linden Bahm, Justin Pender) and Chad Earle (Linden Bahm, Gerrad Grant), both in the first period. One of the most beautiful moments was after Chad Earle's goal when one unidentified Moosehead player totally biffed it while celebrating the goal. I did indeed "laugh out loud". I love when stupid unpredictable things happen during hockey games.

Once again this year we have to be careful about turning the puck over and giving our opponents a chance to score on our power play. Knotek did this twice. Since Mark was there to save the day I will not banish Knotek to the sofa, but he will be sleeping at the foot of the bed with no blankets.

Alexis Piette was today's faceoff master winning 14 of 19 draws. Unfortunately, he was the stressinator who got a penalty at 18:15 of the 3rd. If Mark is smart he will slap him upside the head for threatening his shutout bid.

Mark was good at corralling the rebounds and he made a most delightful glove save with about 4 minutes left in the game. He was huggin' posts, preventing rebounds, and playin' the puck like a pro. Playin' like only a playa' can play. When I went to bed last night I was all like grrrr Yetman. When I woke up this morning I was all like grrrr Yetman... and yet right now Mark is looking amazingly dreamy. Think of all the sexy fun times we could have with that 'first star' (and Linden Bahm). Rawr.

The three stars are:
  1. HAL - Yetman, Mark
  2. HAL - Bahm, Linden
  3. LEW - Wright, Philip

Paquette is a MAINEiac

The Moosehead lost to the Lewiston MAINEiacs by a score of 7 to 3. Alexis Piette, Travis Randell and Chad Earle scored for Halifax. Alexander Beaton scored twice for Lewiston while Billy Lacasse, Danick Paquette, Maxime Gratchev, Marc Bourgeois, and Étienne Brodeur had the other markers. Wuest has a complete game summary online at the metro.

Corbeil got the start for Halifax but was pulled 5 minutes into the second period after allowing 5 goals on 17 shots. He was replaced by Mark Yetman who allowed 2 on 15. In nets for Lewiston was Halifax native Philip Wright. He made 28 saves on 31 shots. He is tiny like a toy goalie but he looks spriggin' with his mask on. His team photo tells a different story - but don't they always (and Lewiston's photos are always especially bad).

Wright can see you. He beez peepin' over the barz.

If Heather thought Tokarski was tick-y this kid is crazy. I saw him touch the crossbar with his glove hand 10 times in just one minute of play. He hits the posts before the start of the period left then right. Talk about ritual. I have never seen someone so overloaded with such obvious quirks play in the Q.

The three stars of the game were:
  1. LEW - Beaton, Alexander
  2. LEW - Gratchev, Maxime
  3. LEW - Paquette, Danick
It was a pitiful game this, absolutely pitiful.

I don't really want to talk about it but I will make a couple of brief point form notes:
  • Linden Bahm hits things because he loves me. The Q website game recap says he had 1 good hit, but he went on a run with 4 hits in a row right in front of me, right side of the net- hit, left side - hit, right side - hit, left side - hit.
  • The Moose played like idiots, constantly passing the puck blind and backwards to nobody.
  • Wet, sweaty goalies were hung out to dry.
  • Our PK sucked. We allowed 3 on 8.
  • I think Yetman was so screened that he was completely blind to the second goal he allowed.
  • God, Danick Paquette is a pain in the ass. This is made worse by his being a huge FAKER. Be a captain - lead by EXAMPLE.
  • Yep, Denis Ruel still eats babies.

Oh how the mighty have fallen
:
...and by fallen, I mean stumbled just a bit. The Moncton Wildcats have finally been defeated, it just took overtime against the Saint John Sea Dogs to do it. They still get a point - grrrrrr.
Which of my SeaDogs lovers turned it out? Didomenico has two goals (including the OT winner. Keven (can I call you Kevie?) Guerette-Charland had the other. Kevie and my sweet Kirky-cookie had assists, along with Sparling, Stich, Liske and Grant. Kevie, Kirky and Simon are my Sea Dogs holy trinity. Don't ask why!

Mayer stopped 32 of 34 shots for the win. He also has a new centurian style helmet. Frankly, while it is different from your standard helmet (hey, no brick walls), I do not like it.

The Dogs have a full game recap (as usual) on their website.

Speaking of Sea Dogs and Holy things...the UNB Varsity Reds have released their team photo.

Holy hell boy! Rawr indeed. Do you think his teammates make fun of him for this? I hope so. I have to buy new panties for the sole purpose of throwing them at him.

For your QMJHL fix in English

....you should check out the Lewiston MAINEiac's blog "The Asylum". It is great. At least I know someone else cares...or is payed to care, about what is still going on in the Q when their team is out of the running. May I also suggest a quick peek at the MAINEiac's homepage for all the latest MAINEiac's player news.

hmmm let's see: Delmas is expected to be a high draft pick and Lewiston rubs it in our faces that they have yet another great goalie. Winger Danick Paquette is also expected to be an early draft pick. Stefan Chaput has signed a three year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. Jakub Bundil has left me crying in my breakfast cereal over him because he will be playing College hockey in Ottawa, and Kirk Rafuse will keep trying to charm me next season with his 'bitchfaceiness' - and if he plays well I might just be able to ignore the fact that he is only 5'10, embrace his bitchfaceiness, and offer to nuzzle him.

For your fix of LHJMQ en Francais don't forget to check out RDS....when you translate articles into English via Babblefish you find out that some of our boys are collecting 'master keys' and 'eating disks' ....it sounds like a video game. No wonder the Mooseheads could not advance past round three, the Olympiques were playing hockey and we were playing Legend of Zelda.

There is no I in team, but there is an I in Q-girl

It is hard to be motivated when you lose your favorite players, and mine are being picked off one by one. I lost my favorite defenseman Steve Lund ages ago. I miss Steve so much, he was very amusing. Then I lost my favorite little goalie - we are sitting him out because he is too pretty for all that sweating. I miss the guy that can somehow pull off a save while lying on his back (thank God Fully comes here on Sunday). Then on Wednesday, maybe only one minute into the game Danick Paquette robbed me of my favorite forward when he used his elbow to cram Whitey's face into the glass, dislodge his helmet and send him crumpling to the ice. When you have lost all of your favorite players the emotional connection with the team and their play gets lost.

I guess there is always Graham Bona, whom I like because most of the time he skates around with a look on his face that is contemplating "Did I put on my pants today? Don't look down Graham, you don't want to know". It is a sad day when your favorite guy on the ice is the other team's goalie.

Let it never be said that Jonathan Bernier is not full of fun and surprises. I have seen Jon play on numerous occasions at the metro center, on the internets, and all over my TV, be it Eastlink Friday Night QMJHL games, the Canada –Russia Challenge (x2) or the World Juniors. Not once have I noticed that he crosses himself before the first faceoff. I didn’t even notice it Wednesday, my friend noticed it. Stupid faceoff distracting me. Do robots have a God?

His cogs were fully greased before the game so when I met him later with my bottle of WD40 in hand he declined. I felt that greasing him up was the least I could do considering the way I had treated him earlier that day, what with suggesting the boys aim for his head. I felt very bad. I am always there with my WD40, plastered two feet in front of the TV waiting for Jon’s hinges to squeak so that I can run off, catch a plane to an exotic locale (eg. Chicoutimi) and get him repaired and ready to go for the next period. I really dropped the ball in the game against Sweden. He has been short with me ever since. I think he may have another girl with a different brand of lube.

I was impressed by his puck handling during the Lewy PPs. I was not really expecting him to get a chance to do that. He must have been feeling quite safe and confident. I lied when I said the best part of the game was the puck drop. It was actually when Pridham climbed into Jon’s net like a little Brian Gionta troll and Jon proceeded to sit on him. Then he stayed sitting there atop Colby for some time. Lesson learned: Only Gio can be a net troll. I did not get a picture of this memorable event. This is the second time Bernier has thoroughly amused me this year, and he has only been to Halifax twice. The first silly Jon incident is captured here with Ryan Hillier. Yes Jon, I already know how its done.

Shall I discuss the game itself...what is the point? I think I have already expressed my indifference towards the game and my growing indifference towards my feelings of disgust after such a game.

Some silly things I did notice and that I will now force you to know. Once you read it you cannot un-read it:

1) I actually saw the Corsi penalty going down. I was all " no PJ don't hook that guy" and I said it out loud. I never catch a penalty as it is happening. I usually catch the aftermath. Lord only knows if I am watching the same game as everyone else. Most likely not. The play proceeds up ice and I immediately divert my attention to the guy in nets because of my dirty goalie peepin' problem. It is all a matter of which part of the game you want to watch. I feel I should mention that I am proud we took so few penalies. It's just too bad our PP ended up being more like a PK...and we had a lot of PPs.

2) Graham shaved the back of his neck. All a girl wants is a clean shaven neck to lick....maybe he got a girlfriend.

3) Knotek got a haircut. Maybe he went to a barber with Graham or maybe he was trying to show Jakub that you can still get goals and assists with short hair.

4) Pier is still capable of smiling. We have not crushed his delicate spirit yet. While I would take him and wrap him up in pre-warmed blankets, make him hazelnut lattes, feed him homemade cookies and tell him stories while stroking his hair, I suspect that the Mooseheads organization keeps him chained up in a cold subterranean room in the Metro centre in their attempts to break him. Also, they stole the ring from his ring finger, unfortunately they have not forcefully shaved the landing strip.

5) I instantly walked in, sat across from the bench and said "hey, that's not Delmas". Indeed it was not. Delmas had wandered off with a lower body injury and the other NS boy Kirk Rafuse took his place. Early in the season when Bernier was still with the LA Kings, Kirk was backing up Delmas, but I could not see him on the bench from my vantage point. Kirk is a wee baby goalie, but he has the goalie bitch-face look down, even if he doesn't have the good goalie skills firmly established yet.

With this picture we establish three things 1) P-O has no ring. 2) P-O is still capable of expressing joy. 3) Rafuse gives good dirty face.

Tomorrow:
  • How we clinched the East
  • How the Sea Dogs clinched second in the East
  • How Travis Fullerton stopped pucks twice in one night while laying on his back. That is a very vulnerable position for a goalie in this town. It is an exceptionally vulnerable position if that goalie is Fullerton. He will be here St Patty's day. I have considered buying a 'kiss me I'm Irish" shirt and filling in some blanks - "Kiss me (Fully) I'm Irish (too)". My boyfriend may not appreciate this even though he is an enabler.
  • Why I unjustly refuse to give props to 'big-pimpin' Antoine LaFleur
  • What the hell is going down around the Q
  • The new four division system is stupid (actually Nuff said)

Faust Arp

Moose,

Do you remember why you love me? I am pretty (my mother says so), I am smart (my boss says so), I am funny (my friends say so), I have a huge toolbox, I can rock a pair of 4 inch heels better than any other girl I know, I like hockey, I have maintained my girlish figure, I dance like a pro, and you are under no pressure to marry me or make babies (I strongly dislike babies).

Do I remember why I love you? The answer is yes. I love you because you are dangerous. Are you unpredictable? Of course. But are you also number one in the East? Mais oui! You are the James Dean of Hockey teams. Let’s not crash any cars tonight. That being said, I will still love you whether you win or lose. I am your one woman pep squad. No, the other one woman pep squad - the younger one that does not have silver pom-poms and flashing glasses.

I was walking home from work the other day with my iPod on shuffle and I came to the realization that your unpredictable nature is a lot like the music on my iPod. It is somewhat surreal when Radiohead is followed up by Ol’ Dirty Bastard. I guess that makes me a bit unpredictable too. Oh, you don't believe me?

How to score goals:

My other boyfriend Jonathan Bernier will be playing well tonight, he has been on a roll lately. If we have a hard time getting pucks past Gelinas, how the hell are we going to deal with Bernier? I have created a guide for you. The green circles are where you should shoot, the red circles indicate where you should not shoot. While I love Jon and I don’t normally recommend infractions on goalies, I am currently of the opinion that we must do anything to win, so should it take a few shots to the head to phase him and throw him off his game…go for it. I bet you never saw that one coming. See, I AM totally unpredictable. I know, I am a total bitch…no mercy. I will make it up to Jon later.

...and yes, the Titan are now in third. They must have found my secret guide on how to score goals. Damn you Perreault. So while I do not want Saint John to overtake us, and the Titan do not have enough games left to overtake us, I still do not want the Titan to overtake Saint John. My loyalties ARE fucked.

Good Luck tonight Yeti/Yetty. We all know Yeti/Yetty's game is not a matter of Luck - it is a matter of concentration and skill. The luck part relates to which defense is going to show up in front of him tonight.

If it inspires White to score a goal, I have found this little video starring his hero Wayne Gretzky . If you ever wonder why some people hate Gretzky, it is because he is a total whore. Speaking of which, I wonder when I will be seeing sugar coated Crosby flakes (now with Penguin shaped marshmallows) in the breakfast cereal isle.

NHL news:

Montreal have regained top seed, overtaking my sweet NJ Devils. I don’t mind, except 4 goals against is not the best situation for Marty #1 to be in. However, better Montreal in 1st than Pittsburgh. Also Carey Price got his second career NHL shutout. Then TSN gave me an interview with both Carey and Marty. It is cruel to leave me all frisky like that. Carey’s overwhelming joy was obvious (as always). When the sportscaster said that Carey smells like victory I got VERY excited. I headed out to Montreal to discover what exactly victory smells like. I brought along my climbing shoes and mountaineered all the way to the top of Carey Price to smell his fluffy hair. What a big boy!!! I didn’t even get vertigo, but he left me exhausted. It turns out that victory smells like cupcakes.

While the Moose are away....

...all the other teams still play.

Lewiston faced off against Saint John today and Bernier was ever so kind to me. If you can simultaneously blow kisses and stop pucks -well, then that is what he was doing. 3-1 in favour of Lewiston. A loss for Saint John means that the Halifax Mooseheads can remain number one in the eastern conference standings.

If I could take back Lewiston's third goal I would. It could be my little gift for Fullerton, because I am kind like that, and also because when you give a little, you get a little.

But Fully's performance was inconsequential, since it seems as if nothing could stop Bernier tonight (with a 0.971 save % on 35 shots). He was magic with whipped cream and sprinkles. It is almost as if he has a tracker in the puck and a radar installed in his head. To top it off he can make it look so damn easy. Someone should run this boy through airport security scanners before every game just to make sure he is clean. If they cannot find the appropriate scanning device I guess I will just have to volunteer to frisk him. I give so much of myself sometimes, I really do. It is all for the love of the game.

Props to the camera men in Lewy as well as the announcers. Nice close ups of the nets really allow a girl to see what a goalie is up to. I appreciate it more since my last game viewed on Telus was from Val d'Or and all the shots were wide. Furthermore the Lewy announcers are really good. The Halifax announcer eats the mic and it makes a horrible sound. The Mooseheads have a game this weekend against the Wildcats and I am expecting the worst camera work / announcing. The last Moncton game I watched on Telus was mostly boards, floors, and shots from too close of an angle near the blue line and in the neutral zone. As a result you could not follow the play.

What really matters for the Mooseheads right now is who IS NOT getting points. Around the league many of the big boys fell to lower tier opponents:
  • Rouyn-Noranda Huskies were defeated by the Drummondville Voltigeurs 5-4. All four netminders played in this game.
  • Victoriaville Tigre outscored the Gatineau Olympics 5-2. Victoriaville's win comes with back-up netminder Legault in nets (Poulin was out for personal reasons). Clermont takes the loss for Gatineau.
  • The Acadie-Bathurst Titan also defeated the PEI rocket 6-2 with Champion getting the win and Gelinas the loss for PEI.

The wins by both the Titan and Lewiston means that both teams remain tied for fourth in the Eastern conference with 76 point each.

A loss by PEI should cheer up the people of Moncton. Moncton and PEI are in a struggle for the final playoff position with PEI currently leading by 4 points.

______________________________________________

According to Wuest (via the hockey news) "Halifax Mooseheads right-winger Jakub Voracek is ranked fourth in the world among prospects". Brad Marchand was the only other local player in the top 100. He was ranked #64.

Players of the month
can now be found at the QMJHL site:
Offensive: Francis Paré - Chicoutimi Saguenéens
Defensive:
Drew Paris - Acadie-Bathurst Titan
Rookie Player: Jacob Lagacé - Chicoutimi Saguenéens

I want a life

Sorry boys
I missed the last half of the game. It can't be all moose ya know. I need a life. I am disappointed about the loss but I am glad that the Moose were feisty enough to bring it back for a 3-2 decision (for Lewy) after being down 2-0 at ~35 min. Would you believe me if I said I was out skankin' it up with Steve Lund while you are away? I was massaging his temples and saying "Is the headache gone yet?". Poor, broken, stay-at-home Lund. If Steve needs a good hit-man, I have a friend with a small child who is quite good at shanking people in the calves. A good shank to the calf can destroy a hockey career. No. OK, It was just a pipe dream anyway.

The live feed for the first period was crap, but I hear that Yetty/Yeti made a nice glove save in the first and managed to come out with a 0.921 save % on 38 shots. I am hoping for a delicious P-O in my barn this Saturday. It will be all snuggles, footy-pajamas, and bedtime stories for P-O if he wins at home vs. Moncton. Long time no see, Moncton. It should be easy...but nothing with our team is ever easy or predictable. If I have time I will catch the rest of the feed from tonight's game on archive tomorrow. This is what I already know: Voracek and White with goals, assists by MacAskill, Pridham, Marchand. So, who assisted my little puppy White? Either MacAskill or Pridham or both. Pridham doesn't work with either line right now and White is rarely on special teams, so I would have to guess MacAskill. Wait - I checked QMJHL again- I was right White from MacAskill - woo hoo. I do have hockey SMRTs. I bet White was being all 'Brian Gionta' about it - parked perfectly in front of the net and redirecting it in or catching a rebound. I should never guess though, since I am normally > 95% WRONG.

Dear Bods - get better soon
Yeti/Yetty - more stars, horray. Good thing I sent Monast out to buy a shelf for your stars. But let's put it this way - if you get stars for today's game, P-O should have had stars for the PEI game. How is it that a 0.96 sav % cannot buy P-O some star? I do not want to hear any excuses about the quality of scoring chances.

Oy to the facebook QMJHL group and to children who post on that group wall. If you don't understand grown-up concepts like sarcasm you shouldn't use grown-up words like 'fuck'. You make the rest of us Moose fans look bad....and this is coming from someone who appears to be on PCP (not crack - as they say, crack is whack).

One other note re. Rouyn-Noranda vs Val d'or - I heard that R-N played goalie-go-round tonight. Why don't coaches ever learn that goalie-go-round gets you nowhere - it is only the most effective means by which to destroy your net-minder's confidence. Val d'Or wins 8-2. Goalie-go round is so... not smart. I like the idea of Rouyn-Noranda vs. Rangers in the Memorial Cup, if for no other reason then to see Rouyn lose, then shrug and go "Really, we went with Gougeon at X-mas, really". Gougeon vs. Mason (I will be laughing in my sleep tonight). So while I am normally not the kind of girl to pick on goalies - Gougeon vs. Mason. Really? Really?

Lots of lickin's tonight and I am glad we were not one of them:
Val d'Or vs R-N: 8-2
Quebec vs Drummondville: 9-2
Baie-Comeau vs Shawinigan : 8-3

Gosh darn-it BaC we need you to lose. I don't know which part of lose you don't understand. Let me spell it out for you: Remember those two times you played us - those were losses. You should keep playing like you do when you play us.

I am watching you

Dear little Moose
Today I will be a classy fan. Golf claps for your 3-1 win over Lewy. We're number 1, we're number 1 (for now).

I was on edge in the third hoping for a shutout, but the minute one thinks the words shutout let alone mutters them, the game is cursed. I hated all the penalties - but way to kill off all eight! More golf claps. It was as if y'all wrapped Yetman in a warm blanket, gave him hot cocoa and read to him from "Beyond the Crease" before the game just to keep him calm and focused. Lewy had 37 shots (does the shot-clock guy in Lewy have a happy trigger finger?) and Yeti stopped 36. The MAINEiacs are a tough team but you managed to plough through them. We have one more Wednesday, and I hope to see all 24 of you back in town on Saturday. This means you should all stay away from Denis Reul - I don't want anyone to get eaten.

Yeti/Yetty -
I have built a small addition onto the side of your abominable snow palace. Congrats, we are neighbors now. If you want me to brush your hair I am just over here to your left. If I start to ask "can I smell your hair?", well that is just creepy, and you should find some way to keep me at bay - perhaps poking at me with the sharp splintery ends of broken sticks will work.
If you need to, you could ask P-O for some old sticks - he has been having to keep me at bay since September, and the splintery stick works wonders.

I had hoped we could have champagne to celebrate Tuesday's win, and I had bought some and left it at your snow palace to chill. Bodnarchuk and Voracek dropped by to pick up some pucks so I left them to lock up the place. Just our luck- Bods left the keys in the door and someone snuck in and stole the puck and our champagne. We were supposed to sip champagne and tango like the classy people we are.

As a result, there has been a change of plans. The party has gotten a little bigger, but it remains classy. Guillaume is invited, and Tomas, Yuri, and Jakub are coming over to give us a lesson on how to harness the Eastern-European superpowers in us all. When Tomas had that breakaway, I thought gosh (classy people do not curse), if only there were someone there to get that rebound. Yuri picked up on my thoughts, Tomas turned back time...and they did the breakaway all over again, but this time Yuri was there to get the rebound. Amazing - golf claps. Boys, you should be more careful about using your superpowers during games - you are televised live all over the world with Telus and bad guys may come to harvest your brains. Do you not watch Heros?

Anywho, I have sent Guillaume out to pick up some red wine for us, a shelf for all the stars you have been accumulating, and some more bubble gum for P-O. Cam has implied that we are going to ride you while you are hot, so P-O will just have so sit on the bench exercising his jaw.

Pelletier -
I miss you already. I am having the DTs. We went from 15-16 straight starts, to ~ 150 minutes without you in nets. Can I just smell your hair? Ow, don't poke me with a broken stick - it hurts. Don't take your anger out on me. I see what you are doing there, taping the broken blade of Marchand's skate to your pointy stick. Am I really that bad? It's just a little goalie-obsession that's all. Fine - here is your bubble gum so you can practice blowing bubbles while you ride the pine. Guillaume will tell you about the party later.

I liked Guillaume's goal that he blasted in from way back out yonder. You know that had it been you letting in a goal like that, and not Delmas (or any other goalie in any other town in the East), you would be skewered and roasted alive on a spit in the middle of town. Do you see how fans in every other eastern town coddle their goalies? I am sorry that Halifax is so shitty to you. Now will you stop jabbing at me? As for the Lewy breakaway - I will be checking the comments section of the online newspaper today to see if somehow Dan Smith got blamed for the breakaway and you got blamed for the goal. I don't know why I continue to read this tripe, but I think I am happiest when I know there are idiots to be angry at.

Marchand-
I don't know how a little mousie like you manages to take on a beastie like Reul, but that was feisty. You should avoid going alone into corners with him. I am just glad you did not get eaten. It would be a real shame if Hillier had to return home and hand over a bag of raw bones and some broken skates to your weeping parents. Poor Hillier would have a hard time of it, returning both a broken Bodnarchuk, and a broken Marchand to their parents. May I suggest utilizing the Pender. You were not playing with us before Christmas - so what you do not know is that the Pender can make Reul bleed (even if only by fluke).

Do you like how I am being nice to you lately? It is all the more reason to introduce me to Montreal's littlest starter Carey Price. I just want to smell his hair. Oh no, P-O is trying to get on the phone and tell Carey about the usefulness of splintery sticks as weapons.

Everybody
We are all aware that Jakub has superpowers and as a result we have an immense amount of confidence in him. He is attempting to harness the power of an early 1990's Jagr-do, and when he trims his hair into a mullet the transformation will be complete and his Czech superpowers will be at their peak. However, he is not yet invincible, and the other teams have started to notice this. So, when Jake rushes up ice with the puck, can someone please stay back just a little bit. The puck keeps getting stolen from him and the other teams keep getting a break-away. I have seen this about three or four times in the past couple of games. Bodnarchuk - you are a little bullet, but we can't expect for you to out-race the other guy everytime, and especialy not on days when you are losing blood. That was supposed to be our PP - next time let's not blow it by being overconfident.

Point form NHL trade news:

1) Oohhhh Espo to Atlanta. Now he and Sid won't be able to share the Crisco they put in their hair.

2) Booo Hossa and Gill to Pittsburgh, now I will have to hate them - and I don't want to hate them.

3) Huet to Washington - I am shocked and appalled. No, not appalled - shocked and shocked. I know Washington needed a netminder but I always thought they would just farm for one. Carey Price is a sweet little robot but can he handle all the pressure of being a number one in Montreal. Not many guys can walk in at 20 and be a successful franchise starter.
What I do know about Carey is that he is the only guy in the universe who can make the cowboy hat, plaid flannel, and camo vest combination work.

4) Richards and Holmquist to Dallas - I never saw that one coming. Richards had better watch his back, Ribeiro might try to shank him.
Hopefully Smith does well in Tampa Bay. Now that he is in the East he can learn how badly they treat the opponent back-up goalies in Montreal. Not only do they make you sit alone but they make you carry your own stool. Just ask Holmquist.

5) According to Wuest, the loss of Foote and Fedorov indicates a shift towards youth in the Blue Jackets franchise. Will we be losing our Czech superhero next year at the ripe young age of 19?

6) So long Cam Janssen. We did not need my NJ Devils looking like they were the Philadelphia Flyers. We have 'the Clarkson' now and he brings a little more class to the role of tough guy.

Lewy vs Saint John

Travis
You know that when you get angry and hit a boy with your stick 'cos he got-all-up-in-your-crease, I, in turn, only want to lick you more, right? Everybody knows how I feel about angry goalies - the angrier the goalie, the hotter the goalie. You are a tender baby gazelle and I am a starving lioness...run motherfucker run.

Congrats on your beautiful 0.971 save %, and your second star, but also boo-on-you for winning. We (the Moose, who else you silly boy?) were one-up on you for about 2 hours, then you (the Sea Dogs, uggg... do I have to explain everything?) had to go and ruin it all by getting that goal in the third. So here we stand, one point separates us still...and you have the upper hand.
The least you could do is congratulate us for bringing the Titan to their knees.
