Monday updates: @!&*!!!* FUCK!

1) Mooseheads defenceman Konrad Abeltshauser broke his hand in yesterday's game against the Moncton wildcats when he collided with (?)/ was cross checked by (?) a Wildcat's player. According to Matthew Wuest he will be out at least four weeks. AT LEAST. Coach Cam Russell gave Wuest the details
"He broke his wrist. He'll be out a minimum of four weeks. He has a cast on now. It's a clean break in his wrist. It's broken right through. It wasn't displaced, that's the good news, and we don't think it will require surgery, but it will be a minimum of four weeks."

2) Former Mooseheads defenceman Richard Greer is no longer with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles (known around these parts as the Screagles- it may also be some sort of infectious disease). Richie now appears to be with the Summerside Western Capitals where he is going incognito as a forward.

Speaking of Western Caps - former Moosehead Chad Earle looks delightfully evil and has 16 points (8G, 8A) in 12 games this season with the Caps.

3) Willy Palov's latest article states that:
It’s also believed the Mooseheads will put in a claim on 19-year-old defenceman Paul Dimitruk when he is put on waivers by Moncton sometime this week. Russell said he hadn’t seen Dimitruk’s name on the waiver wire yet so he didn’t have much to say about it. But it’s safe to assume the Mooseheads would be interested.
The Moose are already carrying 8 defenceman (Brunet, Amyot, Metcalfe, MacDonald, Clarke, Gillard, Abeltshauser & Hannay) so it is kinda hard to know where a guy like Dimitruk fits in. I have fearful thoughts about certain boys being cut and these thoughts do not make me very happy.

uggggg poll!
Get over there with your mouse already! How hard is it to find a little button and press it, maybe caress it gently with your cursor. Stupid boys!

Elsewhere:
Wildcats forward Randy Cameron has won the QMJHL offensive player of the week while Saguenéens Goaltender Christopher Gibson was the defensive player of the week. Cameron should thank the Mooseheads for helping him get that award.

Chad Earle was naughty

I didn't know. No one tells me this stuff. So I guess that the new slick, beautiful Chad Earle was released from the Tigres sometime way back around March 4th... aaaaand that news is only 20 days old. Go ahead, shoot me for my tardiness.

This however would explain why he was not on the roster for their most recent games. Apparently he was released for "off-ice" issues. Ohhhhh very naughty Chad Earle - you deserve spankings.

Damn boy!!!

When team photos go horribly right, Chad Earle Edition. Bah!!! He looks grrreat in that Tigres jersey! He is all dreamy and stuff. Never underestimate the power of a good team photographer. Can we have him back now?

See Hammer, I told you so!

Chad Earle prefers french girls

I presume, because he was claimed off waivers by the Victoriaville Tigres... and chose to report. Smart puppies. Now they have three of my Newfies.

According to a report in la Nouvelle/L'Union Earle will be with the Tigres for their game against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar this Sunday. Mesonaro says that Earle will add some weight and depth to the Tigre's attack, and that he has some offensive talent, having procured 7 goals and 5 assists in 39 games with the Mooseheads.

I am just glad that someone can appreciate what he brings to the game.

Bad argument I know, but ...still. I am fueled by bitterness.

This is News

I am sick. Not only because kids have come back to town, dragging along with them their exotic diseases from Ontario and Newfoundland, and I, in usual form, have been licking too many dicks (not true) and doorknobs (possibly true), but I am also sick because the Mooseheads have released two players: 19 year old forwards Chad Earle and Matt Snow.

According to Wuest:
The 6-foot-1, 193-pound Earle had seven goals and five assists in 39 games with the Mooseheads, providing offensive hustle and the ability to put the puck on the net. Snow, a speedy 5-foot-10, 180-pounder from Halifax, had three goals and six assists in 25 games.

Sigh. Chad Earle, ye shall be missed.

I am about to be mean now - do not read this Mr Boland.

WHAT THE FUCK? EARLE GOES AND BOLAND STAYS. FUCK YOU PATENAUDE. Earle, 8th in goals on the team - gone- so we can keep Boland's toughness, which basically equals a bunch of lost fights, 1 goal, 2 assists and a bum shoulder. Not only that, but amongst the guys who have played more than 30 games on the team, Earle has one of the better +/- stats, at -8, and a whole lotta hustle. Some would say "Earle is soft", to which I would reply "soft is nice for touching".

This makes Gerrad Grant's, December player of the month award seem so much less bitterness inducing. Grant won player of the month for one goal, an assist an a 0+/-. Earle had 1 goal, one assist and a -2 for the month of December. Matt Snow also had a 1 goal and 1 assist with a 0+/-. One gets a prize, the other two get dropped from the team - because they are 19.

Why do I get attached?

At least I still have puppy, the Moosehead's winner of the RDS mid-season rookie excellence award. Here, from the QMJHL website, is the full list of winners (stupid dolts, they spelled his* name wrong):

Getting to know my team: the Chad Earle edition

Bad girls get no hockey. Nope...no hockey. None. No Whitey, no Fullerton, no Yetmen, no Clermont - NOTHING. She just sits on her sofa being bitter and eating "turtles" cookies. mmmm self loathing. The problem here is she cannot figure out what she did wrong to be abandoned and thus deprived of hockey.

The Mooseheads faced off against the Gatineau Olympiques and won by a score of 4-2 .

Chad Earle is nice. I demand you be kind to him. He is the Moose brass's attempt at a Whitey replacement: blonde - check, St. John's native - check, zombie like - check, shifty eyed - check. Today he was also very hard working, especially through the first two periods.

Kiss Chad Earle...KISS HIM!!!

Mooseheads goals were scored by Alexis Piette (from Pender), Charles Bety (from Chad Earle). Tomas Knotek (from Travis Randell and Gabriel O'Connor) and finished off with a shiny breakaway bauble by Yuri Cheremetiev (from Bety and Knotek). Gatineau potted two: including a controversial goal by Hugo Laporte (assisted by Touchette and Croteau) and a power play marker by Stransky (from Byron).

Mark Yetman faced 25 shots, making 23 saves for a 0.92 save %. In the nets for Gatineau was chubbeh bunneh Maxime Clermont who made 23 saves on 27 shots for a 0.85 save %.

If Newfies are not your thing you may also kiss Tomas Knotek for winning 15 of 23 faceoffs.

Game Stars were:
HAL - Knotek, Tomas
HAL - Piette, Alexis
GAT - Stransky, Jan

mmmmm baby goalies

Yesterday the Moncton Wildcats, who are currently undefeated in regulation, spanked the Halifax Mooseheads 6-2. I took notes while I lazily watched the game. This is all you get…replace the word today with yesterday, because I am too lazy to edit my post, and was clearly too lazy to post yesterday.

Mathieu Corbeil gets the start:
Ohhhh look out Yeti, my boy MCT has gotten two straight starts…and today he is getting a start against one of the best teams in the league, the Moncton Wildacats. My other little coo liebe LBD is also between the pipes…so today it is like I am catching all kinds of young little fishes in the nets. Do you feel emasculated my darling Mark, do you feel threatened, are you scared? Might you end up getting dumped? Will your cocky arrogance wane? I hope so. I think I hate you...that's why this is so hot.

Edit* Cam Russel is quoted in today’s issue of the Chronicle Herald

"I thought Corbeil played really well," Russell said. "He was good on the first shots and the rebounds so that was a real bright spot for us. He looked real composed against a team that’s ranked second in Canada.

"(Mark) Yetman was sick the past week so that’s why we played Corbeil against Saint John. But he played so well that’s why we thought he deserved to start again tonight. We’ll go back with Yetman for tomorrow’s game."

NUTS

1st
Moncton score two powerplay goals in the first period (Jodoin and Brown). The Mooseheads have managed to kill off a long five on three only to allow the Wildcats to score a with a few seconds remaining on the proceeding five on four. A third goal is allowed after MacAskill tries to dump the puck deeper into the Moncton zone from the blueline, only to have Gormley intercept and start a rush that results in an even strength goal from Brannon in the slot. Gormley gets an assist. Ben MacAskill gets a paddling.

With less than a minute remaining in the first Baby Louis B-D allowed a fluke Mooseheads goal by Chad Earle, which was scored while Chad was behind the red line and tried to put the puck forward only to have it bounce of Domingue and go in the Moncton net. Hopefully this provides motivation for the next period.

2nd
I tune in during a Gabe O’Connor fight. Apparently I missed another Moncton goal (by Savard on the powerplay) which put them up 4-1. Chad Earle then does a wrap around the Moncton net and takes a shot which bounces off Domingue and gets picked up by Piette for the second Mooseheads goal

My impression of LBD so far: he looks fast. His movements are fast, such as his ability to get down then back up and into position, and his moves are smooth and fluid. He is likely a good dancer, no one can be that smooth and not know how to dance. It is difficult to judge on live feeds, Louis is small, less than a cm big…but I will continue to judge him as smooth.

Moncton’s feeds are much better than they were last year. Much better. Sometimes they don’t track the guy with the puck, but at least there are not multiple camera angles or a 5 minute shot of the Camera man’s shoes. Serious Q fans know what I am talking about.

At the end of the second the score is 4-2 Moncton. MCT has faced 38 shots so far this game, 26 of which have been considered dangerous. He has to be applauded for keeping himself so composed while facing a team like Moncton. The Moose have to step it up on the penalty kill. Honestly guys, allowing 3 in 5 is sad.

We are also not getting in our requisite number of hits. We should be doing that. Today’s game is not as physical as our game against the Sea Dogs, where we ended up with 36 good hits. Sure the Moose were not "taking the body" enough for my seat neighbours, Fatty Wingus and Peglegs Dingus, but those idiots only know three phrases: 1) take the body, 2) goddammit Bona/Pender (and last year Monast), and 3) shoot (yelled most frequently when the shooting lane is clogged – and when the puck hits a body they get upset). This differs greatly from today’s game where, in two periods, the Moose only have 6 hits, two courtesy of Bahm and two courtesy of ELXVI. So far none of our huge defenceman has thrown a hit…bitches please, use your size to your advantage.

3rd
With about 5:34 to go in the period the Wildcats get another goal, this time by Matt Lahey. Boo on us. So far the Moose have only put put 10 hits and have 26 shots on net. This is followed by the Moose allowing Moncton to get another goal, this time by the Cats captain Matt Eagles, the puck went off of Corbeil and in.

Overall:
Moncton
outshot Halifax 52 /29. We were just not putting up the hits. We also only had one PP opportunity. The only D to hit anyone was Bona, who put out only 1 hit all game. Way to go defence. If I had to stuff anyone full of cookies it would be Desjardins and Earle. Earle had 5 shots on net, 4 of which were dangerous, and Desjardins had 4 shots. He also did a lot of hitting.

Moncton dominated the stars:

  1. MON - Jodoin, Simon
  2. MON - Savard, David
  3. MON - Brown, Matt
