The Mooseheads have invited 17 year old goaltender Brandon Decker of Gander Newfoundland to the Mooseheads training camp which begins August 28. According to an article by Krysta Colbourne in Gander's The Beacon, Decker will be attending the Atlantic Hockey Showcase in Charlottetown, P.E.I., and will then be on his way to Halifax to train with Mooseheads goalie coach Pat Dallaire at the Nova Scotia Goaltending Academy. This will be followed by a training stint in Boston.
My favorite quote from the article comes from Decker's IcePaks coach, Jody Bishop. Bishop says "It's a model franchise that's owned by ex-NHLer Bobby Smith, ... so he's going to a first-class organization where they concentrate on raising fine young men well beyond the game of hockey."
Anybody who knows me personally knows exactly the kind of "fine young man" behavior that is displayed by certain Mooseheads.
The article is not the best, it seems to be lax in fact. Bishop says "One of the things they wanted to sure up was a couple defencemen," he said. "They had eight defencemen on their team last year, their top two have signed NHL contracts and there are three more they are getting rid of, so it's a great chance for Ryan to come in now and he has a chance to step right into the line-up and contribute right away."
Lies, damned lies - all of it:
1) our GM is Marcel Patenaude not Marcel Pat
2) no you cannot play NCAA once you have played in the Q.
3)No silly, only one of our defensemen (Bodnarchuk) has signed an NHL contract, unless Guillaume has been keeping secrets from me. I give him wine to keep him talking. Please remember that Guillaume is gone because Patrick Roy kidnapped him.
Imagine if I got paid to not check into all the details. It's a damn good thing I don't get paid - that way I can lie about whatever I want to. I am currently typing this after sexy fun times with our entire defensive squad. They are upstairs where I left them - all tuckered out. I made Ben's cheeks soooo pink. See - lying is easy.
